Hey All!

Here is the situation! I recently moved from Oregon to Texas! My gliders got a new home, cage, and a dog (whom rarely goes near the cage)! I have 2 gliders,
Kinsley (1 year), and Inara (6 years). Inara, the older one has had a weight drop, and went from 115(ish) grams to 92grams in 1 week. I gave her ensure origional vanilla, and avocado, and she went up to 99.45 grams. We went to the vet, and talked, checked for heart failure, and possible diabetes, both negetive! We were sent home, and Im monitoring water intake, as well as urine output (hard to tell with 2 gliders), and weight. I stopped giving her the extra stuff to help her gain weight last Fruday (its Monday night now), and I will weigh her tomorrow! The vet said it could be 1 of 3 things... 1. Stress 2.Kidney Failure 3. Liver Disease. As of right now, its just a waiting game, but I guessed this could be a good learning experiance for not only me, but you guys too! This is my first major issue with my gliders, after owning them for about 1 year and 3 months! (I got Inara as a retired breeder(

Your vet is correct. I would quit the Ensure, it should never be given to a glider that could possibly be dehydrated.

I would give the avocado a couple times a week.

You can also ad Milk Thistle and Dandelion root to their food. Get it at GNC try to get the stuff without alcohol. I don't know what diet you are feeding. I feed Critterlove Plus and when I use it I put a few drops in a batch.
Talk to your vet about it and see what he recommends.
