Hi Everyone,

Being in NJ, everything is expensive. I asked two different animal hospitals that deal in exotic pets about how much it would cost to do a routine exam for each glider and also a fecal test to check for Giardia and the other parasites. The glider exams would be $100 each and the fecal tests $50 each. $150 a glider x 2. I checked the state of NJ lab that does all these animal testings where I saw fecal tests for like $10 and $15(flotation). At first they said these exams would cover them and then they wrote me back right after and said they were mistaken and the testings they do would not detect this. Does anyone know of a lab that I could send their poop(lol) to that would test for a more reasonable price?

I'd be interested in this as well.

My vet says it's more expensive to test for giardia than to just treat it. He said we could just do a round of meds once a year as a precaution, but I don't know if that's ok to do. Plus if they did have it, I'd want to know as well as when it's gone. So if there's a lab that you can send specimens to that would be great.

I wouldn't treat once a year. I wouldn't treat at all unless your having problems with diarrhea.

I will rattle my friend again, she has a new job and getting her to respond is like pulling teeth.
