I've recently moved my sugar gliders into my walk in closet where they can stay away from the noises of the house. The closet does have a bright light in it. The question is, do they need a light on during the day to help show them it's day time? there are no windows in the closet. with that, it would be 24/7 of dark.

If you choose keep your gliders in the closet, there are a few things to remember:

1. Air circulation: Closets with the door shut can get stuffy and the temperatures vary from too warm to too cool. Also the air will become stale.

2. Gliders need light. Natural in their room is best. It helps with their internal clock. They are nocturnal so in order for them to get the rest they require, they need to see light. A light on in a closet could get too warm.

3. Unless your gliders are streesed, they grow accustomed to noises in the home while sleeping.

May I ask why you feel it's too noisy in your home? Are they awake during the day? Do you feel they are crabbing too much? Have you started bonding yet?

The most beneficial light is natural light, as would come through the window. In situations where natural daylight can be accessed, artificial light is a necessity.

They do get accustomed to the noises in the home. My sugar gliders are in a room with 5 parrots and none are the worse for it.

would adding a fan to the closet help with air circulation? It's a pretty decently sized closet.

I've got a timer that I used for my reptiles heat pad, would it be okay to have some Christmas lights in the closest on for about 10 hours a day I leave my house at 12pm and get back around
10pm. It could act as their day time.

They were stationed in my living room,
where my girl friend and do most of our living. We play games and watch tv shows which can get noisy. I had the idea they might like their own private room to sleep, I never got the hint they were stressed or awake too often in the day time.

Mine were fine in the living room. They will socialize better. If you watch TV/ game in the dark or low light, they will come out and you'll be able to interact with them more.

I don't think your daily noise bothers them as much as you think, at least based from much I have read. My gliders have spent most their life in my bedroom. The exception being my girls first year and some odd months. They were initially kept on adjoining wall in a second bedroom (my only option at the time, as their original cage they came with wouldn't fit anywhere else. When they needed their cage replaced, I went with the Madagascar, as the 24" width would fit in my bedroom. My Ollie boy was kept in the place where the girls original cage was through quarantine and pre-intro period. After that, in my bedroom they've been, with only a short-term exception while in transition in my currant living situation. I've never had the option of playing them in my living room, and not sure now how I'd feel if I could, due to the fact I'd miss them in my room.

Mine are in my main room: movies, TV, friends, etc. No issues with them. Occasionally, if things get rambunctious (friends' pets/kids) (really the same things, yes?), then one or two may come out of to watch for a bit before retiring again... that's rare, though.
