I can’t seem to attach the picture, but I have 2 girls that are about 4 months out of pouch. I feed them every night:
1 cube of critterl love complete
They would not have any part of the freeze dried critter love salad so I give them various fruits and veggies every night. While I do vary the fruits and veggies I include i’m wondering about quantity. They eat almost everything each night, if they are growing and aren’t getting chubby should I be concerned? A typical night looks something like:

A couple slivers of cucumber
2 halved blueberries
4-5 kernels of corn
4-5 peas
A couple slivers of apple
1 snap pea or green bean
A couple small bits of spinach or lettuce of some sort

Is this too much if they are eating everything (except they never eat the peas)

I vary the veggies; sometimes they get pieces of red or green pepper, avocado, snow peas, raspberries, orange, carrot, pear, different greens etc. my question really is about quantity.

Thanks!!

Ok, you have a good staple diet, I feed Critterlove also. On the website there is a page with 5 fruit and vegetable mixtures (salads). You should be feeding those with the Critterlove. Each glider would get 2 tablespoons or 24 grams of the salad mixtures along with a tablespoon each of the Critterlove staple. Here is the link to the Salad Mixtures.

If you only have two gliders, I would split the salads in half, you will need a gram scale. There are 5 different salads and you are to chose one, make it, freeze it and feed it up; then choose another salad out of the 5 mixtures and do the same, rotating through the 5 salad mixtures.

If they are cleaning it all up give them a little more salad until they are leaving some.

I agree with Feather.

At 4 months old, they are still young and may not eat everything you offer in the salad mixes. Please keep offering it to them. Mine were also a bit skinny untill they were almost a year old. They ran off the calories they took in.

I've discovered mine have more interest in the freeze-dried versions if I mix the critter-love complete with two extra TB of hot water when I make it, then pour it over the dried mix a half-hour before serving. They seem to clean the plate done this way versus ignoring it otherwise.

So, are you saying it is okay to pour Critterlove over the freeze dried veggies?

Unless Peggy educates us(me) otherwise, I don't see how it would be a problem. The goal is for them to eat both. This way, they don't have much choice in the matter & (for mine) it works much better than serving separately. I've served them together over freeze-dried or normal vegetables as long as I've had them on this diet (outside of a short test run of serving them separately). The only thing you need to keep in mind is you must still provide enough water to rehydrate the fruits/veggies as well as mix the powder.

This also makes it easier when I have glider-sitters. I just put the correct amount of the freeze-dried & powder in a snack container so they only need to add hot water & shake. While waiting, they clean out yesterday's food, reset the toys, & check/top-off water levels in the bottles. Then they shake the dinner again, remove the lid, & serve. Easy for the sitters & keeps the furbutts happy.

It is important to feed one of the recommended salads, whether you are following one of the Critter Love salad recipes or using the Freeze dried.
Please also keep in mind, young joeys will not eat as much of the salad mixtures as adults do. They also do not eat the insoluble fibers, therefore they will eat the insides of the vegetables, leaving the outer shell in place.
They will pick up the greens, chew them to get the nutrients out and spit them back out. Once spit out, it is actually hard to tell they ever picked it up.

As for pouring the Complete over the Freeze-Dried salads, I do recommend you rehydrate the salad mixture first with water, but after doing so, by all means, if you want to pour the Complete over the top of it you can.
I, personally, like to feed it separately only to make certain they are eating their Complete, which is never an issue. :-)

Long term, happily. Short term... that is not a short drive & my landlady (& her daughter) would never let me hear the end of it! (I keep joking with them I expect to come home with a note saying "no rent due, we took the gliders instead").
