HI! I am in Colorado Springs, owned by two SG's, Indie500 and Jaxom. I adopted Indie, in February of this year, from an old high school friend who was joining the Airforce and could no longer care for her. She was a bit of a handful!!! And Crabbed all the time, thus her name, she sounds like a mad little motor car going in circles on the track.

I adopted Jaxom in May of this year. Indie got to pick him out herself!! She had two boys to pick from and he was the one she head butted and followed around for a half hour. He's a bit crabby but far more curious and is learning, slowly, not to bite my hands off.

I work full time and just finished my associates, so am currently on a school break for the next year.

I'm also owned by 2 hairless male rats, Chee & Chay, and one happy harry old female named Honey.

When you PM'd me I had no clue as to what you what referring to, now I understand. Eads seems to be in the Southwestern part of Colorado, north of La-Juanta and Lamar. It is about 170 miles South-East of Denver, I can't tell how small it is, but it looks very small.... Hope this helps....

I was born in Eads! I grew up in Lamar, about 30 minutes from Eads. Eads is VERY small, no more than 800 people. Nice little town though. Drive through there when I head home to see the folks.

LaurenK, I can't take-in your beautiful boy, but I can offer to help build a chain of transportation to their new home I live in Durango.

Judie, I'm close enough, but I don't have any experience with feeding joeys. There is, however, a lady in a town about an hour from here. Farmington, NM. I believe she has gliders with joeys (joeys not for sale though). I wish I had her contact info. You might check on the NM thread. Durango and the surrounding area isn't too far from the Four Corners area in NM.

If she needs a vet, I can reccomend a Dr. here in Durango, he did great with mine

KrynaIsAMama03, I have an ad up in the classifieds Here for my little girl that needs to go to a new home. You can PM me or email me if you're interested.

As for me, I'm in Denver with my two suggies Keiko and Heihachi and their little girl who is to date nameless (I don't know if naming her will just make me more attached and make it harder to let her go! She is our first baby.)

I live with my boyfriend Dan and our three cats, Biku (fatty fire-point siamese, 16lbs!) Rufio (ferral rescue...loves cats, not so hot on people but he's coming around) and Lexi (Dan's cat, super sweet lap kitty.)

That's great that there's so many glider people here!

Up North in Longmont. Just trying to fill the big empty space w/ a few female gliders. My little Kona just recently passed away(on tues jan 18th) and My Chenzie passed away last December. My b/f and I have been taking it hard ever since.
WHen I got my first glider there wasn't this many coloradoans registered. Of course there is no way that I would remeber my log in name for a couple years.

Hello all. I'm new to the board but not new to the suggies. I had one rescue several years ago but she passed on without warning (She seemed rather old to the vet.) I'm looking at doing rescues or somesuch soon as well as the railroad if needed/wanted.

Alrighty, not sure if this is the right place but it at Least is a place all of us in the mountains of snow (at least today) notice.

Firstly, I'm awaiting news on getting my own babies. Cross fingers everyone please.

Secondly, are there any colorado springs/denver meetups monthly? I'd love to try making it to something like that. I'm so tired of mentioning gliders and getting a) odd looks or b) people who think they are low maintenance and get angry with me when I tell them that gliders are labour intensive. I need like minded people!

We've not had any Colorado get togethers or meet-ups, yet, but that's a great idea! I wonder how many would be interested...

I do have rescues from time to time (I have one right now, but he's still a wild little thing and not ready for a home, yet). You are welcome to PM me if you'd like to chat more.

Nice to meet you!

Hey all! I live in Greeley (student at UNC) and I grew up mostly in Arapahoe County (in between Aurora, Greenwood Village, Denver, Centennial, Lone Tree and Highlands Ranch lol, not part of any city where we are I do not have any gliders...yet! Currently I am mummy to Sam and Maggie, my bunnies and sister to Nicky, my parents yorkie. Oh, a step- mummy to Triger, my bf's dog. I was looking at shipping two gliders in from FL but I would love to see a breeder here if anyone knows a good one. Also, does anyone know of any good exotic vets in northern colorado??
Thanks guys!!!!~Suriah~

We bought our joey's from a WONDERFUL breeder in Northglenn, Colorado. I have nothing bad to say about them, they have beautiful gliders, and very SWEET joey's. They have a website you can look at with plenty of pictures.

The really cool thing is that (Larry and Annette) go over so much about caring for gliders, and actually take you into their establishment where they keep all their gliders. They have about 10 cages full of Sugar Gliders and about 5-10 cages full of joey's.

This is their website: BREEDER IN NORTHGLENN

Hope you find them/their website as impressive as we did.

I can help you with both of those things.

I highly recommend Dr. Ashley Calvin at Trilby Companion Animal Hospital here in Ft Collins.

Hello, sorry for this being my first post but I need help and I need it bad.

My name is David and my wife and I own 2 young sugar gliders, Zathras and Chewy. We love them dearly but I have a problem.

We are required to be in South Dakota between the dates of June 16 and the 21st. There are no hotels in the area and will be forced to "camp out". Jonette, my wife, is determined to take the gliders with us. Her plan is to get a power inverter and an electric blanket to keep them warm during the night. I have serious doubts about this actually working.

She refuses to let the housesitter who will be feeding the cats feed the gliders. She might accept someone experienced with glider care.

My searches for glider bording have come up empty. Does anyone know of a good sitter or bording house for sugar gliders?

Please email me if you have any ideas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. I'm in Colorado Springs, CO. I'm a native , actually, I have pretty deep roots here for part of my family. Anyway, it's nice to know that so many of you are here in CO with gliders.
I have two, Priest- neutered male, and Toolah-female. I've had them both for about 8 months, and I'm guessing they are a bit over a year old. Oh yeah, I also have a Beta named Merlot.

Thank you so much Zayrah for spoiling the boys rotten while we were away. They love the nest pouches and have already used both of them. The cedar box is gone.

Chewy is on a mission to destroy the feather toy. He loves it. Jonette is really squimish about the meal worms but after watching them down a couple last night I think she will learn how to deal with it.

Jonette and I will be making BML this weekend for the boys.

Oh you wanted full moon strangeness stories - The night before last I had several books fall off my end table. That set Chewy to barking. He barked all night. I could not calm him down, even by holding him.

bark bark bark. Zathras just ignored him.

Thanks again.

It was fun to take care of them. : smiles : With five monkies of my own, another cage with two in it was no trouble at feeting time. Play time was good (aside from the whole attack the hand that tried to put me (chewy.. aptly named!) back in the cage!) and I'm glad they like the teaser. Oh and you left (we both forgot) the vitamins as well as the veggies etc. I completely spaced it.

As for the moon stories, why not post that in the thread for it? http://www.sugarglider.net/ubbthreads/sh...p;page=0#411312 : smiles : Not many outside of CO read this topic. Anytime you need a sitter (or anything really,) just call.

I miss being home. My grandmother still lives in Colorado. I was born at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. I came to Texas after my divorce. I want to go home but my new husband says that he would be a popsicle there. Big Dork!!! I may have to convince him to move there or get another divorce and go home anyway . Not really!! But I miss the people and the mountains. Unfortunately it's not really a colony just yet. I have four pairs as things stand now. I aso have Rockin' vet. Barb is the best. Her office is all of five minutes from my house.. and she adores gliders. Have you figured where you're getting yours from? I know of one who might have some babies in time and she visits the city quite a bit.

Well, I'm hoping to get mine from a girl that listed hers on this site...she lives up in MT. We've been talking back and forth on pm's and I told her to consider it a done deal but I haven't heard back from her just yet, so if it falls through I'd definitely love to find some babies. The ones we were looking at right now are 9mo old brother and sister and the brother has been neutered. How close to the post do you live? (Ft. Carson)

ooh! ooh! I wanna get together! I wished there were more of us Colorado'ans (or whatever you guys call yourself, since I'm now one of whatever that may be) to have a big ole get together. I'm totally in though when you come up here.

Coloradans and as for get-togethers, it'd be nice but I won't be going up to denver for any anytime soon. Once burned out, twice as wary to bother.

Tch, they did at first. Now though, Maybe something in the 'Springs area? I can ask around and see if there's someplace that we all can meetup now and again that won't cost anything and we can have a source of snacks and such.

I don't get on here very often but I also live in the Springs ( just outside of Ft Carson as we are stationed here ) in Widefield/Fountain. I have 4 sugar gliders that ive had since...forever...99ish when I started raising gliders.
I pop on here now and then but with a 3 year old toddler and twins on the way I don't have a lot of time or energy. Hopefully you guys can manage to get together.

It would be really fun if we could get together in CO. I would love to meet more suggie owned people and swap stories. I will be getting off my train the day after Christmas. I don't think I am bringing my girls with me though. They are going to be visiting with Linda(my friend/breeder) during my vacation.

Yea! That sounds like a lot of fun. I am not much of a snow lover, so fire and suggie talk sounds very appealing to me.

Well by June 20th 2008(after graduation) or so I will be moving to Denver Co, can anyone tell me what the climate is like? Any good things? this will be the first time I leave home for a home of my own and I will barely be 19. Kinda scarry, but exciting at the same time. Rocky Mountains here I come!!!

Hi my name is Mel and I live in a very small town in NE Colorado close to the Nebraska border. I am new to sugar gliders and am happily awaiting my new addition to my zoo. I have been approved to adopt a pair of gliders from a rescue that is run by a wonder mother and daughter. I should be getting them in about a week, I hope. I am amazed by how many people in Colorado have sugar gliders. I came across them by luck on the petfinder web site while I was looking a dogs. I have really fell in love with them since I saw the pairs up for adoption and then have been do nothing else on the computer but research.

Thanks to everyone for making this website so wonderful.
Mel

Well, I posted in the Minnesota forum, because that's where I live now - but I was born and partially raised in Greeley. My grandpa lives in Strasburg & I have family in Denver & the Bennett area. Will be visiting again this summer & bringing my suggies! I can't wait. And I miss Colorado soooo much...ever since I moved I haven't been able to tell which way was west...hehehe...And as touristy as it is, Estes Park is still one of my favorite haunts! Dang, that taffy is awesome! If there's ever a get together out in CO when I happen to be out there, I'd come in a heartbeat!

Yay! So many of us! I'm from Estes Park (though I got my girl Phoebe in Michigan, she's taking to the Rockies very well:) It's fun to be able to recognize all of those city names. Sorry Anonymous, can't help yeah there. Have you tried posting more out front? I get the in state bit, but other places? People specifically looking will be able to help you out.

To Sugar Absession, it all depends where you live. I live in the mountains (literally ON a mountain) so it tends to be cooler here than in Denver. Good choice to move though! If you don't like humidity, you picked the right place to live! We get very little, and therefore I find that the heat is easy to deal with. Oh, and don't worry so much about the winters. With the exception of last winter, ours tend to be mild, like our summers. Welcome!!

We used to live in Evanston, and I know a few suggie owners there.
