I've only had one pair of joeys but I would have to say that isn't at all normal. The only thing you should see coming out of there at all is clear (urine) or pasty poo. If it's thick white fluid it sounds like she is either throwing up her milk or she is failing to digest it properly. If her skin is dry and flaky that means she's dehydrated and you should get her to a vet immediately. Dehydration kills.

The thick whitish liquid is most likely the liquid from her scent gland. Does it smell rather like a skunk? Some gliders emit more of it than others and if she is scared, she will "skunk" you - emitting the scent fluid...

As for the dry, flaky skin, is she hand-raised? Or is she still with her parents? If hand-raised, this is not uncommon. If still with her parents, then it's possible that the house is very dry and she is not getting enough humidity from the environment. Either way, you can dab a little bit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the dry skin and it will help to moisten it back up again without being toxic to her if she grooms herself. A little bit goes a long way, though, so only use a drop or two...

I'm glad suz came along because I couldn't have helped at all. I was going to say rush her to the vet.

Disregard my previous comments, Suz knows way more about the subject than I do.
Interesting to know, My babies never actually produced a byproduct other than the smell when they skunked me.

Most joeys, when they skunk you, don't excrete enough of the fluid for it to be noticeable to the eye... however, some do & it's my guess that's what's happening in this case. However, if the white fluid is NOT accompanied by a skunk-like smell, then the joey should be seen by a vet right away...

if it had been skunking, you wouldn't have had to "go smell it" -- you'd smell it! It lingers in the air a moment or two - like a skunk spray, but not quite THAT bad.

How old is this baby?
