How long should we wait before taking her out of the cage. We just got her nad she is bonding really well. she plays games with in her cage and hasn't crabbed but when she is startled if she is sleeping. And all we have to do is talk to her and she stops. But we haven't tried to take her pouch out of the cage. I am not expecting that she will just take off but when is a good time just to hold her in her pouch and let her get used to our sent?

sounds like your doing well, if she has had a few days to adjust and seems to be doing well with you, it's time to take the pouch out. I'd start with just holding or carrying the pouch around, pet her through the pouch. Do you have a bonding pouch that will close? Best to start taking her out when she is sleepy. But you'll want to make sure you are in a secure area, like the bathroom, if you don't have a bonding pouch that closes. You'd be surprised how fast they can move when they want out. Any ways, carry her around for a few days, talk to her and touch the outside of the pouch, she will get used to your contact. Then in a week or so, move to a tent or small bathroom for out of the pouch play if things are going well. Congratulations and welcome to GC.

Welcome to GC! I think tent time would be awesome for this situation. You can take her pouch in there, let her come out explore on her own to explore, give her treats, you're the main attration in the tent, and on top of that, its a safe environment. As for taking her pouch out of the cage, I would do it if she's not too upset (crabbing) or if you're not afraid she'll get out of her pouch to possible danger. Carrying gliders around in bonding pouches works wonders, at least it did with Squirrel. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Congrats on Makenzie! Oh yeah, if you can't carry her around you can cut up bits of fabric (preferably fleece) that smell like you to put in her pouch.

That would probably be good. Does it have a screen window in it for ventilation? (I'm not sure if its necessary, but I prefer to have the windows on my bonding pouches)

I don't think the screens are needed for ventilation - they are so that the gliders smell you better and/or they can see out. Mine like to look out it, but I think that is kind of rare - mine just don't seem to mind light. The fleece is breathable enough that they are fine without it, but I do prefer my bonding pouches to have them too.
