My Bandit is missing half of his ear (Phoebe bit it and as it healed it shriveled up and fell off). If she got bit on her ears, that could be what happened. I cannot imagine a breeder did not know that, though. I mean, she put them in the pouch. The fact she took out only the one with intact ears and then told you to leave them alone, tells me she was hoping you wouldn't notice right away and then could say 'they were fine when they left.' She should have no problems. I know Bandit (aka half Spock) is fine with only part an ear (and I think it adds to his character, too!)

From the sounds of it, sounds lucky these babies found you. Not to put down a breeder, but she doesn't sound like a very caring one. JMHO.

Your baby is adorable. I hate people that sell things dishonestly though! The little ones are lucky to have found you, I'm sure you'll be a great glider Mom...

to answer your other questions 41g seems a little on the low side for a 7 week joey, but not dangerously so. My joeys were about 50g at 7 weeks, but they are still mini gliders now, its just there size. I would def. try to put a little wiegh on them. What diet are you feeding?

Honestly, I would give up on the breeder. People like that just aren't worth it.

She swears the vet is wrong and that she delivered them with ears. She has agreed to a discount on the one glider and has told me to tell her what I think is fair. I am feeding them Gliderlove's diet but I have to wean them from there old one which is just fruit/veggies and dry cat food. They love the cat food they eat alot of it but I am trying to put in less and less of it.

I found an ad that she had posted. She was the only person I could find around here. I think she sells alot but not sure I know she has 14 breeders(not sure if that is just the females).

I am sorry for what happened to you but
you have a very unique special baby right there
and cute as a button too.
Did the vet say you had to take any precautions as far as cleaning them and stuff?
I see your in Canada do you have a Government lisense thingy like we have the USDA here?
Do you need to be lisenced to sell them there?

I am not sure if you need a lisence but I will look into it. The vet said they are completely healed so I dont need to do anything but she said I should watch out to see if there is any fighting going on just in case(I have seen no fighting and have heard nothing other than them crabbing at me and my kids) My hubby heard them barking last night.

Did he say anything about any kind of infection? There was a little yellow crusty spot on her ear that I was concerned about.

No said nothing about infection she looked at both ears on both of them and did the best we could because they were not happy at all. When we looked at them today we didnt see any crusty spots at all(my camera really sucks maybe bad lighting I am not sure) I will keep an eye on her ears and make sure they dont look worse. If I notice any redness or swelling I will take her back to the vet. I am still looking into the lisences if any that are needed in canada. Will post when I know. Thanks soo much for helping me out.

I definitely agree with Brandy. What the breeder did was very unethical to say the least. She knew and did not say anything to you in fact specifically hid that fact. Looking at the pics I would say an old injury as well. Way before 2 weeks ago so she gave you a glider that you had not seen before not to mention the fact that she charged such a high price. Did they come with the cage or anything? Now given all the facts and she still refuses to issue some type of refund. Not good. I definitely would keep them as you will make a wonderful suggie momma to this little one. She bites because she is scared and no wonder. Give it time and she will come to realize you offer only love and will come to trust you. My suggestion after it is all said and done and if she doesn't do the right thing I would report her to USDA or SPCA(hope I got that one right) Is she a user on this forum? If so I would report her there as well. That type of dealing is just unacceptable. Hope this helps hon.

AS far as I can tell she does not have to have a lisence to breed. I can now tell from the "Final email" she sent me that she is going to do nothing about it and say that they fought during the 2 days I had them and that is the cause of the ear damage. She first offered a discount on the one but now has said she will give nothing. She then tells me these are her sons(hes 7) gliders and he doesnt give gliders for free. How can a 7 year old be breeder and take care of 14 glider plus babies. She said If I email her again she will charge me will harrassment. I sent an email back to her responding to the attacks SHE made on me and I am going to look into what can be done at court. She called me a dishonest person when I think shes got that backwards.
Cant think of what else to put here I have a major Migraine and her giving me a hard time doesnt help much

Melyssa, at this point I don't see what you can do with the breeder, except go to court. That is a personal decision for you. I would contact Ellen and Eddie, and one of the Karen's, I can never remember which one. Give them the name of the breeder and the info, to see if we can put her on our "beware of" section.

Unless the Ad was placed through our Classifieds, and the conditions were met for filing a complaint, there would be nothing we could do.

Ham Bird Lady roflmao thanks Chris.

Sorry, no at this time she may not post this person's name publicly but she can PM me a formal complaint if she wants to provided the Ad was placed on GC.

IF this person is a breeder with a website then she would fall under Rule 2. Do not post names, phone numbers, addresses, personal email or correspondence without the other parties permission. Due to copyright laws, do not cut and paste articles from another site please use a link instead. Comments of glider related businesses and web sites will be allowed by name as long as the discussion is kept on topic and within reason. Personal bashing will not be tolerated.

This should be done in another thread rather than this one if all conditions are met.

There was no ad on GC. I found her ad on another website there I cannot post her name or file a complaint through here. I really hope no one else gets scammed from her. She did say she was the largest breeder in western canada. I am looking at posting on the canadian Board of inquiry but I need to get rid of my migraine before I can think straight and post on there. I may follow through with a lawsuit(I dont want anyone else to get scammed so if a lawsuit will help prevent that then that is what I will do)
Now enough of that stuff, I have a few questions about my suggies. Kahlua has been crabbing and lunching at me now, is this a result of the stress from the vet visit? Also it is ok for me to carry them in a bonding pouch even though they crab alot? I am going to try our first tent time tonight. I will try to take pics but these sweethearts wont stay still long enough for me to take pics(i had to get a friend to help with the other pics) Thanks for all the help

Carrying them in the pouch is fine. She is probably crabbing and lunging because she is scared. Her's had a rough couple of days, poor girl! Tent time should be a blast, let us know how it goes!

Melyssa, I am so glad these babies found their way to you!! You are going to make a wonderful suggie momma. Definitely do tent time that will improve the bonding process. Poor things I can only imagine what they have gone through.

Hi, as some may know I am having alot of problems with the breeder who sold me Rogue and kahlua. She decided to call my vet and tell her that her(the vet) diagnosis is wrong. The breeder continued to tell the vet that sugar gliders cannot bleed and cannot scab. IS this true? If they can bleed and/or scab is there any documentation that I can print off to prove it in court? Thanks again

PS My vet doesnt believe her at all.

First of all in court your vet would over rule your breeders opinion. Gliders can bleed and they can have a scab if they don't groom it off, I had a glider who was scratched on the top of his head and it did scab over (mildly) and he would keep grromiong it off, but it was not serious enough for any meds.

I'm sorry your having an issue like this! Does your glider have an injury?

That breeder knows she is guilty and is trying to find a scapegoat out of it. It is sad and pathetic the length the breeder is going through to no be responsible. That breeder is ignorant, thats like saying we humans don't bleed and get scabs, what a moron! Anyway, you get all the known facts you can Melyssa and put that breeder in her place. She should not be allowed to breed, much less own gliders or any other animals at that. I would ask you vet if she would mind testifying also since she would be a big asset to your case. I hope you succeed in what you are doing. Please do keep us posted and thank the lord that little Kahlua and Rogue got a good home and mom and got away from that horrible lady.

She would have to do a lot more work before anyone would even represent her in court. You can't just argue with someone's medical opinion and not have scientific medical reasoning to question it in a legal situation. I would be dollars to doughnuts her bark is way bigger than her bite! Personally, I would give her NO REASONS to push. Don't talk to her if you can help it. If you can't, DON'T argue with her. It's just like fighting the tide - she's never going to come to your side of the argument/story. I'd say stay as far away from this one as you can! GOOD LUCK w/your babies wink

I have had no contact with the breeder since she had claimed nothing happened in her care. I have been getting everything together to file in court. Heres the best part. I just got a phone call from the police she says I am harrassing her. I havent called or emailed her since wedsneday morning. Now Shes trying to charge me with harrassment. I love theses gliders alot but man its been a big headache.

That just proves my point - whether or not she realizes it consciously, she's trying to bait you. Don't argue, just hand over your phone bill to your lawyer or the judge with highlights of when, if any, you've called her. That solves that - let HER stress, don't stress over the invalid finger pointing! GOOD LUCK!

Melyssa,
She will have to document the phone calls to prove the harrassment. There is a *some number (I forget) you can push to have the calls traced and documented by the phone company. I had to do this with an ex of mine. So, she will have to PROVE it.
I think your original question was already answered. definitely having the vet write up a documentation of the gldiers condition, etc if he/she cannot attend court. Also, I'm sure there is someone on here that could provide pictures of scabs on gliders to prove they do scab.
hang in there! sounds like this lady is not into breeding for the love of the animals but for the dollar signs which is really sad. frown
