I'm making some toys for my glider and I plan on useing wooden blocks and some rope and I have a few questions about it.
#1. The blocks do look pretty plain and boring, is there any paints or stains that are safe for gliders?
#2. What is the best kind of rope to use? I was considering making rope from fleece and I have heard that ribbon works well, or should i go with the stuff bird toys are made from?
Thanks so much! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/gliderangel.gif" alt="" />

1) You would need to use a NON toxic paint that is safe for animals and children. I know they make it but it's hard to find and often a little more expensive. You can get coating too at home depot that is non toxic (water based)
2)I use the rope that is used a lot in bird and primate cages for them to swing from and sit on. I don't really think it has an exact name but it is a thick rope.

I used food coloring to "dye" some natural wood beads. I soaked them for a couple of days, then rinsed them. I then let them dry. After they were dry, I again soaked them in clean water for an hour or so, let them completely dry again. This helped to stop them from "bleeding" each time they are washed.

I use satin ribbon to make toys with. It is easy to work with, inexpensive, colorful, and dangles well.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.
