Ugh! I've been making HPW, relish, and smoothies since early this morning, and been cleaning and reorganizing cages! My freezer is FULL, and I am EXHAUSTED! I got back from a family trip at 1 this morning, and we were out of all the good food except some relish, which I gave to them. Now I've spent hours upon hours trying to get everything restocked and cleaned up. I also bought some puppy milk replacer to supplement Christy and make sure she's getting enough to eat since the mealworm shortage stole her favorite food.

Anyone who says gliders aren't high maintainance... visit my house for a day!

I know what you mean! I try to stagger it so I don't end up doing it all at once, but it's happened a couple times. It's such a pain! shakehead

In her siggy it looks like she only has 4. I cleaned and will be shopping (in a little bit) for 14 (7 cages). But to me they are sooooooooooooooo worth it!!! Now I have to go vacuum their room!!! It never ends!!

Since my ex and I have separated, he took two gliders and I now have two gliders. Before, living together, we owned 4.

Even though he did most of the work for his pair, it is still substantially less stressful caring for two gliders instead of four!

I don't know how people with really large colonies do it. Especially, how do they all get their playtime regularly? It blows my mind tounge I am happy only owning two, because I know if I had more, not all of them would get adequate playtime.

[font:comic sans ms]Jen, personally, i think people who own upwards of 4 gliders are crazy. that is meant with NO disrespect of course ! i seriously would like to know how you spend time with every glider, how many bondin pouches you carry on you any given day.

it is time-consumin ! i always discourage some1 who sees my gliders and is like "aww i want 1 !" "how much time do you have for them, do you like to be up all night, do you know what it entails ?" etc.

SO NOT LIKE A HAMSTER ![/font]

I came home from a 12 hour shift today to make a batch of fruit/veggie mix for my suggies diet. That only took me just over an hour. But after tomorrow's 12 hour shift, I have another different batch to make. And then next week, it happens again, shakehead We suggie lovers have got to be crazy, crazy roflmao

Yep ~glider~ crazy smile I have seven right now and it is pretty time consuming. Exhausting actually. Yesterday my fiancee was like "I wish I got 1/10 of the attention the gliders do!" LOL. I just got back down to three cages from four and what a relief! I just kept a joey from each of my pairs and got a new male so until recently it was just four. Worth every minute, I can't think of anything better than playing with gliders all day everyday! I always have at least one pouch on me at all times, sometimes two or three. I make sure that they get their out of cage time, but it is hard sometimes with so many cages. I let them play in the canopy over my bed alot too. Sometimes the fiance lets them play in the bedroom while I play with the others in the suggie room. I put the other cages in the repts to play when one cage is out to play in the glider room and we rotate so each cage gets their hour a night. I like the Pet Glider diet, it takes me 1/2 hour to make, regardless of the size of the batch, very easy and convinient. smile

Well I carry 3 bonding pouches on EVERY given day. One pouch gets to go to work with mom and the other two after work. I don't find making their food that time consuming, I make the HPW one day, the fruit smoothie one, and the vegi relish another.
Cages get the total(outside cleaning) every month on the weekend. toys and fleece cage sets get cleaned every week, so just a simple wipedown of the cage, kiddos tagging along during my day and some playtime at night(which is the best stress relief I can find) and we are done.

Now the hubby and skinkids...that's a different story.

Yep, only four! But I like to make sure I spoil them!!!
Right now, I just have the four suggies, 2 pit bulls, one fw tank, and a sw coral tank. The suggies and sw tank are the most time-consuming. I've had lots of animals before- including reptiles, over 200 at one time!! But I've never had this much work to do, because all of them ate pre-prepared food, and didn't require as much attention ('cept the birds and dogs).

I have 14 gliders in 7 cages. Down from 19 gliders in 9. It is a constant job. Clean cage pans, clean pouches, change and clean toys, clean water dishes, make food, buy food, clean cages, sweep the floor. But, then I get to PLAY!!!!
Oh, and then feed and care for the ferts, who I was warned, are very time consuming, and can't be left alone when you go out of town. *rolls eyes Do you know what I already have? These guys are easy!
