Alright these were taken in 10 second clips off my phone (anything bigger can't be uploaded) and it's not the best quality. It is something, and I think it's important for new owners especially to see how difficult it can be to get these things on and how gliders struggle with them. Seeing is totally different than reading! Imagine trying to make and size and keep an e-collar on a glider during an emergency. It is so much easier to have a collar made and sized already - at least half of the hard part is over that way. The glider used for the demo was not friendly and bonded and Denise still got a collar on her, despite her squirmings and lunges. It had to be taken on and off a couple of times to size correctly, and the glider slipped it off once herself. http://s918.photobucket.com/albums/ad27/lovely1inred/OGG%202009%20e-collar%20videos/Please more experienced members chime in your observations as well. I wish the video quality was better but my phone is all I had with me. There are two random pics in the album as well, one of someone's glider sharing some strawberry cake and one of my Skittles hiding in a munchie. If you can identify the cake pic glider please PM me and I can tag it properly on photobucket.

Great! Thank you for sharing!
Are there any videos of putting an ecollar on without help? Most of the time when I've needed to use one, I was alone and had to put the collar on by myself. I really have no problem, but I use the snap-on ecollar.

Well, my dumb self did not think to get my camera out just at the start of course, but Denise did put the collar on by herself and with Shawn's help to show both ways.
By herself, she wrapped the glider in fleece burrito-style, and then she taped it down around the glider's shoulders (on the fleece not the glider) so the subject couldn't move. Then it was easy to lay her down on that fleece bag and put the collar on with two hands instead of one. A similar picture is on Suz's site where she shows how to administer meds - the glider's hands are down by their sides so they can't crawl around.
A couple of things Denise emphasized: after it is on, check their breathing. Most gliders are gonna be stressed out by the process, so fast breathing is normal, and a little bit of purple on the nose is normal. A LOT or totally purple nose is not normal and the collar needs to be looser. If the glider is fighting the collar that is OK! Just keep them somewhere they can't hurt themself until they adjust to it - so no table edges or hard surfaces, things of that nature. If it comes off, put it back.
I pray and pray I will never have to use an ecollar on any glider I ever own, but if I do I will be ready! It just cannot be stressed enough, PLEASE prepare before the emergency. A wriggly, unhappy, hurting glider combined with never having made and/or put on an ecollar, combined wiht an owner's tears and shaking hands....at least some of that can be avoided. I put these on my pair this weekend and now I know how they will act with them, what is normal.

Well, it didn't make for happy gliders tonight, but I had my grandson video me putting an ecollar on Wynn and Roo. There are two videos of each, from different angles. Kinda of a spur of the moment thing, so take that into consideration when you watch. LOL! The "lump" in my shirt BTW (not that it really needs explaining. LOL!) is the glider who wasn't being videoed. Wynn, from the side. Roo, from the side. Wynn, from behind me. Roo, from behind me. You'll notice Roo was a bit more difficult to get the ecollar on. I can usually get an ecollar on in 30 seconds or less. Both boys are in my shirt now, after being suitably pacified with a yoggie.

Unfortunately, I've had way too much experience in needing to put an ecollar on. My suggestion for everyone, would be to do as I did tonight and learn how to put one on BEFORE it's needed.
I'm glad my videos helped!

Good point, Becki! I hadn't thought about the weight changes!
Wynn wasn't thrilled when he "posed". Esp since I had to dig him out of my shirt a SECOND time! LOL!

LOL! Can you imagine how fast I could put on an ecollar if I had short nails?

Problem is this.. it's not this easy when your sick little one is Pit bull biting at you at the same time your attempting to get the little fella into the e collar.. or the e jacket.. that Denise an I made for vlad.. because the e collar was so heavy on him an he felt humm inraged to pull his head off in order to get it off him.. we did a jacket that criss crossed over shoulders under his breast and around the neck to support him so he would eat and move more easier for us.. because with the e collar he couldnt get proper food bowl attention either.. I would like to see a sick glider put into one of these to see the tlc used because maybe I did something wrong.. which I dought since He fought Denise hand over [censored] and back .. of course this was years ago ... but still education for this area is really needed.. any advice?

Honestly, the way I put these ecollars on my healthy gliders, is the same way I do if they've had surgery. If I had a glider who fights more than Roo did, then I would try the burrito wrap. I've never had to do that tho, even with my most uncooperative gliders. I have tried before, thinking it would be easier on the glider and myself, but for me, it was actually easier and much faster, to do it the way I showed. However, I'll make another video this weekend, showing the burrito wrap method with my most uncooperative glider, to show another way to do it.

I'm uploading three videos I made a little bit ago. I'm having major, major computer issues right now, so I may not be able to get them uploaded and posted right away. My hard drive is going out and I can't get it replaced til Tuesday. I'll post these asap tho!

Connie! The look Wynn gives you at the end of the first video! OMG! That's hilarious.
Jessica, I should be strangled twice for not bringing my video camera to the OGG! BAH! But you did get some decent shots.

Here's Sunshine, using burrito method. Not as uncooperative as I thought he would be. Tough, using burrito method. He WAS as uncooperative as I expected. Tough, without burrito method. Still uncooperative. To be honest, I still prefer not using the burrito method. It takes me just as long to get the fleece wrapped around them, as it does to put the ecollar on. I also prefer being able to feel my glider, to know his body movements, how hard he's struggling and how firm my grip on him is.

Connie! The look Wynn gives you at the end of the first video! OMG! That's hilarious. That look was, "Mom, I'm headed for your bra and there better NOT be ANYthing in my way!!!" LOL! After a yoggie, each happily forgave me.

ok, We have used the wrap before and so I guess Im doing it right reguardless they just dont like the e collars on them, I dont blame them a bit, but I sware your video is so WONDERFUL in helping since i have 4 gliders now I have to keep a close eye on Misant, he is over grooming some areas Iv been keeping a CLOSE eye on him, since he SMed once, I dont think he wouldnt do it agian on me.. an the Ecollars you have are WAY more wonderful then the Old ones I had, which didnt have the snaps on them.. at least now I have a snap one Denise gave to me... for emergancy reasons Expecially if Honey's wound didnt heal proper, "which it's doing great" thank you for showing me.. and "whispers" thank you Sunshine and Tough" you are both awesome..

Connie, thank you for the videos! Having the snap e-collar makes things so much easier when an emergency arises. Unfortunately, not EVERYONE has one in their emergency kits...and let's face it, there are some gliders who are either too large or too small to fit in one (I'm talking "extremely fluffy" or---heaven forbid---a younger glider). It's very important for EACH AND EVERY GLIDER OWNER out there to review Suz's website on how to make a shotglass e-collar and PRACTICE on how to put it on. Like Jessica said, having a hurt glider who's biting you mercilessly while you're crying & trying to work with shaking hands is difficult! If you practice under a non-emergency situation, you at least will be a little less stressed out if you don't get the collar on successfully your first try. I know a lot of people think it'll stress out their glider to practice on them...and I won't deny that it will, for a couple minutes. BUT it's still worth the confidence that you will get from KNOWING that "YOU CAN DO IT!!" I'm still thinking of ways that I can video putting on a shotglass e-collar. I have a digital camera that MIGHT record it, but I need to check into this a little further. If that fails, then I'll look into some other possibilities. Jessica, let me say how PROUD I am of you! I can tell that you learned a lot from my presentation, and I hope there are others out there who also got a few pointers. That's why I do this demo at every gathering that I can: It's IMPORTANT info to learn, and it may save a glider's life some day.

Roo, Wynn, Sunshine and Tough are, um, er, uh....glad to help? LOL!
I'm glad my videos did help. I have always had the snap-on ecollars. In an emergency situation, the last thing I want to do is fret over getting sticky tape where it needs to go and quickly. I'm not super coordinated and know I would have tape stuck everywhere but the place it needed to be. Also, with my long fingernails, the snap-on ecollars are easy for me to use.
The snap-on ecollar has worked wonderfully for my smallest male to be neutered, which was Roo at 76 grams. I had to put it on as tight as it would go, so he couldn't get it off. My largest glider I used it on was Jasper, at 126 grams. I set it second to the loosest snap and he kept it on. I'm guessing that the snap-on ecollar probably wouldn't work for a glider over 150 grams. As mentioned, try the ecollar on a healthy glider to find the right fit before you need to use it.
