hey

I bought a awesome wood toy the gliders would love to have to swing on that normally sells for $30. I bought it from a pet shop going out of business for $6 but it was in a bird cage and I don't want to use it without being sure its sterilized.

any suggestions?

Oh wow, for wood? I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that without taking the dye out at very least.

I think that'll take some of the dye off, but you can try it. dunno I think that'd be just as good as the dish washer though.

You can try baking it! I know that sterilizes woods of parasites and bacteria.

I think a quick dip in boiling water would be good. Or even hot soap and water...

For wood toys - both for my gliders and my bird - I run them through the dishwasher, then dry them in the oven on about 250 for at least 30 minutes.

Some of the dye does come out. But - they still make great toys.

I wash my wood toys in the dishwasher with hot water and extra bleach. The color does fade fairly significantly when washed in the dishwasher, but they don't care, they like the toy for what it is, not the color. smile
