Last August I made a post to give an update on my health, letting everyone know I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. I have had some ups and downs this past year, such as under going a hip replacement a little over a month ago. My time has been consumed with Dr. visits and am now doing out patient rehab for my hip, which takes a lot out of me at times. It makes me sad that I cannot be on as much as I would like and interact online with everyone as I use to. With everything that has been going on, I am finding it harder and harder as time goes to be able to get on the computer and keep up with everything that is going on. Bruce and I have discussed this and since have decided that at this time we will be retiring as Owner and CEO of GliderCENTRAL, and hand the board completely over to Karen and Eddie. Bruce and I both knew that one day we would need to do this, that is why we brought Karen and Eddie on as owners in 2008. Bruce and I will be focusing on my recovery as well as enjoying our time together as retired people do smile

Now with that being said, don't think that I wont be around checking in and maybe even if possible make a post to say hi to everyone. I am not leaving GC, I do check in when I can and talk to Karen and Eddie to keep me in the loop. Karen came up with our new titles because both her and Eddie do not want our titles to show as Master Glider Member. They wanted us to have a more special name for the years we have owned GliderCENTRAL. Our new titles will be Owner:Emeritus and CEO:Emeritus. The definition of emeritus is : one retired from professional life but permitted to retain as an honorary title the rank of the last office held.

Bruce and I want everyone to know how much you all mean to us. Each and everyone of you regardless if you never met us or have talked to us each hold a place in our hearts as everyone has made GliderCENTRAL what it is today. Bruce and I made a promise to Clara to keep GliderCENTRAL running in the same manner and direction she wanted it. Karen and Eddie has made the same promise to both Bruce and myself.

Ellen, we have talked a lot and I know how hard this as well as everything else has been. You know we all love you and Bruce, no matter what, you are GC and will always be mother hen I want to thank you for all that you and Bruce have done for the gliders and their owners over the years. I also thank you for trusting both Karen and I with something that you have held close to your heart and care about, GC. I know this is not goodbye, and look forward to our calls and weekly progress reports.

Miss Ellen, you have been so missed around here. I want you to focus on your health and your love/time with Bruce. You still need to check in with us and keep us all in line (especially Eddie!) but you take the time you and Bruce need to be what you are...a wonderful couple.

I'm always around and you have my phone number (if not, it's in my signature) and I'm always available if you need me or if there is anything I can ever do to help you.

Though I have never met you, I would like to extend a very big thank you for this wonderful site. I don't know where I would be had I not found this place! Ellen is a retired nurse and Bruce is a Dr. I dont know how they made it work, now a days you will hardly see that combination. Thank you all for your kind words to Ellen. We read them to her when she cannot make it on and she loves hearing all of your messages.

We did know this day would come and know that with or without the *title* you will ALWAYS be the *Owner* of GC.

Hey Ellen. Man thats some tough news to swallow. Sorry to hear the diagnosis and I hope you're doing ok with it. I am glad to hear that you will still check in now and again. Im still around and kicking, although not as much as I used to. Good luck Ellen and I look forward to the posts you will be making in the future.

We have never had the pleasure of meeting one another, but without GliderCentral, I would not know the things that I know today about gliders. It would have taken me years to find it all out! Everyone on this site has supported one another through tent time, introductions, Railroads, glider losses, injuries, illnesses (glider and human related) and many heartbreaks to go around the world.

People from the other side of the world are here now too, and if not for you both, we would not be here to help them, with the same things we all needed help with when we first began our own glider journeys.

I want to thank you both from my heart, for this board, that has brought so many loving and caring marsupial addicts together! Chirps, Chitters, Squeaks, purs, pops, bit o crabbing from my bra to you both!

Many hugs and hopes to you both, I hope you enjoy your lives and I DO hope to see you on from time to time!

Just a thought, with the Parkinsons, perhaps it would be helpful to use a speech recognition program, rather than typing. I do, because I write a lot and can't type very fast. Good luck, God bless you both.

As I read this thread my heart is in my throat, tears in my eyes, sad to see ya go, not pity but joyful that you too will be able to spend 100% of your time together. Although that could be a job in it's self. LOL

I will echo everyone's thread before me that we've never met but I too walk PROUD with my head held high with the knowledge that you and Glider Central have given me.

I also try to educate, as I have been, through this forum and strongly protest all mill breeder and brokers. (uncalled for, and no excuse, but GREED).

When people see me with my babies, as always they want to know what they are, ahhh how cute, where can I get one? NO NO NO!!! Then the education begins all over again.

I have 2 rescues from Oct 2009, although still a bit challenging on things, I swear I love em to death. Where have they been all my life?

I will be retiring in 18 mo from a 30 yr career, so look out hubby, more RESCUED fur bablies may be in our future. Every fur baby deserves a caring, unconditional love forever home.

You guys enjoy and cherish each other and we (members) will help (the mods) keep everyone on the straight and narrow and educated to the best of our ability.

Thru it I have gained a lot of knowledge about gliders and I know that the gliders I coome into contact with thank you too. Goodness Gracious, how time does fly past us somehow.

I remember when Clare turned the board over to Bruce and Ellen so many many years ago. And now Glider Central ownership is being passed on to Karen and Eddie who have been doing a great job of running it for the past year or so.

We in the Glider Community have been blessed by some very dedicated people who run this board which offers a wealth of information on the care and responsibitly of Sugar Glider Ownership.

Thank You so much Ellen and Bruce for the years of dedication to Glider Central.

And lastly, Congratultions to the newest owners... Eddie and Karen. You both will continue the spirit of what Glider Central stands for.

The bonding that happens here between Suggie caretakers is wonderful, and the fact that you put this site together to assist glider slaves in their care . . . invaluable. Thank you for all that you have done for these little ones and those of us who love them.

I have just today discovered a lady I've known for several years is a glider slave and steered her to this site. I know she will be well taken care of here, and get the guidance she needs.
