Ravenous... and then

Ravenous... and then - 09/06/17 01:46 PM

My gliders have been completely ravenous over the last few nights! They usually leave some of their nectar in the bowl and lots of scraps from their salad, but the last few days... the nectar bowl is licked clean, and the veggie scraps are nearly non-existent.

Has anyone else seen similar behavior lately? I wonder if it's one of those phase of the moon things?

And of course, more eating means more pooping.

We were enjoying some hand-in-bag time the other day, and I had Winky held loosely in my palm in the bag. Then I felt her poop in my hand! In the bag! (They don't usually do that in the bag.) Then she piddled on me. Then she wrapped herself around my piddle-dampened fingers for a nice snuggle in the bag.

Does that seem weird to anyone else? Was she just marking me? I'm a little concerned since it happened in the bag where they sleep.

The moon is full so some people will see strange behaviors in their gliders/animals during this phase of the moon.

I'm not sure about the bathroom though.

Keep a close eye on them for any further incontinence to see if this was a one time occurrence or if a vet check is in order.

I agree with Karen.

BTW, are you guys affected by the fires?

I haven't had that experience, but even though I agree with others on keeping an eye out on it, I just wanted to put it out there that perhaps she poo'd and piddled on/in your hand while in pouch was because it may not have felt like she was in the pouch, while you were holding her. Does that make sense?

Oh, I pray the fires don't come anywhere near you guys.

Good point, Terry.

Thanks for the replies, everybody!

Winky did it again yesterday, but that may just be because I woke her up in the middle of the day and what do you do when you wake up? I'll do my best not to wake her during hand time today, and see if that helps.

There are no fires near us here at the ocean, but the air is hazy with smoke. Our vehicles are lightly coated in ash, the incoming ocean waves are producing a nasty brown foam, the sun is a post-apocalyptic red disk in the flat gray sky, and my eyes are burning. Every county in WA state has been declared in an official state of emergency and people are advised to stay indoors due to poor air quality in most areas.

That all sounds a bit dire after I read it, but it's really not too bad. People are still out playing on the beach, sitting in lawn chairs and "sunning" themselves. Not everyone is bothered by the smoky haze.

I've just been trying to keep the windows closed and stay inside most of the time.

I'm glad you are staying indoors. Surely it can't be good for people to be "playing on the beach, sitting in lawn chairs and "sunning" themselves". Just breathing in the smoke and ash can't be good for your lungs shakehead

Stay safe and keep us posted where you are, please.

Wow... All I had to deal with was a gun shot about 40' from us at 4am... We had a rogue gator here.

Comrade will keep you safe. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't working on making his ship amphibious just in case. Lol!

Be safe!

No worries honey, I have the plan.
Got a carton of Lucky Strikes from the casino.
After smoking the whole carton you won't care about any damn forest fire smoke.
Just gotta build up your resistance. :-)

Once we have that covered, we will be switching to a diet of Twinkies, Corn Dogs, and Red Bull; work that digestive resistance. Pretty soon we will be able to eat meat that is visibly growing HAIR without any ill effects.

After that: it's POOP IN THE WOODS training...wherein we slam a liter of Ex-LAX and parachute out of a small plane into the Canadian Rockies. We will have to hunt small game for food and...wipes...
