SunCoast diet help... - 09/20/06 04:44 PM

I did as SunCoast suggested about mixing the apple juice with the vitamins and freezing in trays. BUT all the vitamins sink to the bottom! I gave my male an ice cube last night and he drank alllll the apple juice left the vitamins and didnt eat hardly ANYTHING else. I was thinking I could trade the apple juice for apple sauce? Has anyone else had these problems? Or do you use some other method of measuring out the vitamins?

I always take the ice cubes out about 1 hour before feeding and let it totally melt before mealtime. I then stir the liquid before putting it in the cage - this way when they drink it they get most of the vionate and calcium. That works for me!

i sprinkle the vitamins and calcium in their food and mix it well otherwise if they even see or smell it they wont eat it.. this way when i mix it good in their food i know they are getting their vitamins and calcium...this is what works for me and my gliders hope it helps you too...

dcaz, welcome to Glider Central. I have been using the Suncoast diet since I got my furrbutts. I put the Vionate and Calcium in a little bit of yogurt and mix it up really well to where you can't see any of the vitamins or calcium. Otherwise, my babies won't eat it either. Sometimes I also use cottage cheese, lowfat of course, but they don't like it as well as they do the yogurt.

I just sprinkle it on their food and mix it around-- mine don't seem to have an issue with not eating it if they can see it.

Well I use to sprinkle it on his yogurt and mix it in and he would eat that just fine. But I didn't know exactly how much I was suppose to be giving every night. I wanted to be more specific than just a sprinkling. Am I being overly concerned about to much or to little vitamins?

The SunCoast diet is definitely one of the more popular ones on our diet page. The main reason I don't use it is because I, too, don't know how much is too little or too much to sprinkle. That's why I follow the BML diet plan. The vitamins and calcium both mixed into the BML recipe. No guesswork.

I have Missy (she is 2 months) on the BML and will probably keep her on that until she is old enough to be moved in with Little Guy. I have tried the BML with Little Guy and he refuses it and anything else mixed. I can't even put his veggies and fruit in the same dish! So I don't know what I am going to do! I am extremely worried about oversdosing or not having enough vitamins, because I feel it is a very important part of them living healthy and happily (just like humans!)
