I also have had "malabsorption" or malnutrition issues with gliders out of Morsel's line. I have neutered all males out of that line except one due to a possible genetic disorder. None of the females are breeding. I am so sorry, Val. Your story is heart-breaking. I sent a necropsy and the survey to the Sugar Group on July 21st for my glider who died. I didn't hear anything back, so I'm not sure if they were received. You can let me know if you would like me to forward it again.

My question for Nancy is:
Does this include the glider you lost due to malnutrition that was identified on necropsy which you stated publicly was caused by the glider being fed the Blended diet?

It was suggested that another thread be started for the reply.

I expect only a yes or no answer whether the group of gliders Nancy mentioned that had malabsorption or malnutrition issues included the glider whose death she attributed directly to the Blended Diet or if that glider was unrelated.

I do not wish to re-open the full discussion. I just need to know if there is a possible metabolic component to that glider’s death that may have influenced the way that specific glider metabolized the ingredients in the Blended Diet Recipe.

Well, to begin, can you please give a direct reference or quote to my public statement that "my glider died because it was fed the Blended diet"?

I believe at the time I had 18 gliders, but would have to check on the exact number. One died, two came close. The others are fine. One of my concerns was that the numbers and ratios in a diet may be perfect, but the variations and combinations of ingredients may affect how the components are utilized or metabolized. That is where an evaluation by a nutritionist would have been helpful.

I, for one, have expressed my concerns. I had an 11-month old glider die, with malnutrition as one of the primary causes on the necropsy. I had two gliders develop HLP. All three of these gliders were born here, and were relatively young. They have made a remarkable recovery since being switched to BML, and diligent vet care/treatment.

It is my glider that died. I'm not sure why you are suggesting that I should politely ask the creator of the diet, ""do you think the diet was the cause?" when I had a necropsy from a pathologist at the University of Kentucky confirm malnutrition as a cause of death. That pretty much removes all doubt. I also see it as a personal attack that I should have seen the telltale signs. I would have given ANYTHING to have seen some telltale signs. And yes, I did switch diets before she died, but the damage was already done. I just had no idea of the extent of it. You can rest assured that I have my own guilt to deal with. I made a decision that was fatal for one of my babies, and will live with that forever. I take full responsibility for that decision, but Zoey paid the ultimate price.

I would simply like to know if Zoey was one of the gliders out of Morsel's line that you have now identified as having "malabsorption" or malnutrition issues?

The necropsy report, as you quoted, confirmed malnutrition as a cause of death. Zoey's lineage has always been available on TPG database.

Thank you Nancy, a simple yes would have been fine. I have looked at her lineage and confirmed that she is one of the gliders that you have stated may have "malabsorption" or malnutrition issues. She and Morsel share Poppins and Tinkerbell as common ancestors.

Mods, my question has been answered. This topic maybe closed.
