The Sugar Glider Exotic Diet questions.... - 04/11/06 02:34 AM

Hello,

I'm using the diet designed by Priscilla Price. I was wondering two things. First, should I puree the recipe so that the babies get an even amount of veggies and fruits? I've noticed they hate certain veggies and fruits and tend to pick around the things they don't like so much.

Secondly, it says to just "break off a piece". Well, how large? A piece could be a pea size or half the bag. I'm not really sure how much of their diet the recipe should take up. They have monkey biscuits and cereal as a staple. How much of the basic mixture should be given to two gliders?

Thanks for any help!

I am not familiar with her diet.. I know of it but I've never used it before. But I would think you shouldn't need to puree the veggies. All gliders (like people) have their favorites. Some days they will like one thing and the next turn their noses up at it. Also as babies they don't eat as much and tend to leave the veggies last. As for the other question I am not for sure... I hope some one will be along soon.

I started pureeing the mix because my girls picked around the chicken and eggs. Now I sometimes puree it and sometimes not - gives them a little variety.

I also freeze the mix in ice cube trays and give them two ice cubes a night - about 3 tbs. You can start with a piece you think is appropriate, and adjust according to how much they eat. My girls never eat all their food, so I know they have enough.
