Can gliders have eyes that blue?

Can gliders have eyes that blue? - 02/08/13 09:07 PM

So, I have noticed in the last month of having my beautiful baby Taybee that she has blue eyes - I thought gliders only could have black or garnet eyes?
If pictures are needed let me know!
It's a bright blue circle around the outside of her pupil.
It's beautiful but I was unaware there could be that bright of a color within a gliders eyes smile

Thank you!

I noticed how prominent it was and I was like hmmm.
Aren't they so pretty? I'm glad it's not just me.
Hey, are you busy now - I was gonna shoot you a test quick.

No. The twins both have very dark black eyes.
They're quite soulful though.
Both of the twins have very expressive eyes.
I love them to death, and I am so excited at the idea that I may have another little one like them to add ro my family.
I adore your joeys Jenna!

Then the twins must have gotten Daddy's eyes.
You can tell exactly how they're feeling if you had look at their eyes!

Anyways, back on topic, I wonder what causes that blue ring?

That is part of what I was wondering.
Is it genetic?
Does it come from the parent?
If Faith has it and the twins don't then it must be able to skip a generation....

I'm pretty sure most gliders eyes are like that. That isn't anything different or unusual. Also, the black that we see isn't the pupil. They have a pupil in the center just like we do. The black is like the color of ours, and the other part (blue) is like the whites of our eyes.

As Shelly said - The 'blue' you are seeing is their sclera (like the whites of our eyes) only they do tend to have a bluish look to them in gliders. The dark part of their eye you see is both the pupil and the iris. Only in most gliders, the iris is so dark that it appears black and is difficult to differentiate from their pupil. In the correct light you can see that gliders (except those with the garnet or red eyes) have very, very dark brown eyes.
