Has anyone ever thought about feeding Grandma Lucy's to their gliders as a treat? If so, any reason why or why not to?

I'm not familiar with that. Are you talking about the dog food? That is all that comes up with a google search dunno

Yes, they make both dog and cat food.

I saw there was both dog and cat food.

If you are feeding a healthy balanced diet made specifically for sugar gliders, I'm not sure why you would even consider introducing something made for dogs/cats even as a treat.

There are many other options you can give as treats for sugar gliders.

I was thinking more for the protein source in the foods to change it up for them.

Gliders need consistency in their staple which is where they get their protein as well as vitamins, etc. They get their variety (changing it up for them) in the veggies/fruits offered plus the occasional treats.

Offering items such as dog/cat food will throw off the balance.

Now, most of us do let our gliders have very occasional 'cheat' nights, which will usually consist of plain chicken, boiled/scrambled eggs, mac & cheese with veggies/fruits OR special items on Thanksgiving/Christmas that contain basically no seasoning or very little staying away from garlic or onion.

Also keep in mind that too much protein is hard on your glider kidneys and captive glider don't require that much protein.

If you want to feed a kibble, I would go with Happy Glider kibble from PetPro.

Dog food is for dogs, cat food is for cats and Happy Glider Kibble is for sugar gliders.
