Suggie Cabanas I Made

Suggie Cabanas I Made - 02/19/15 10:16 PM

I made these little cabanas last night, washed them and let dry overnight so I could incorporate them in the new cage design after the "big clean" today (steam cleaned).

I covered them with "blankies from same fleece I constructed them with. I don't expect the blankies to stay on, lol.

They have a flat bottom and an arched top and are approximately 6" each. One is connected to the mesh bridge I had made some time ago and the other dangles above, more swinging motion. I used the mid-sized tunnel in the same fleece as the cabanas hanging vertical that I had in there hanging horizontal. Because I thoroughly cleaned by using steamer, then wiping with v/w solution and then steam again followed by dry wipe and also laundered the cover sheet; I didn't want to place all new clean items in, so used several accessories that were in the last set up, but moved around or changed orientation.

How cute! Love the print too! I've been trying to come up with some cute new stuff too, I may have to make one of those! I have a tree tunnel I made for the cage at home, I like your bridge too! They all look easy to clean!
You did a good job!

Those look really cool! Let me know if you decide to make them for others, I'd love on for my cage!

Thanks. I Have limited fleece in that patern, not enough for a cage set. I made a fringy vine and some blankets, as well as using it for mesh toy making. It came with my Ollie boy along with some other fleece, that I'm hoping to get cage sets made from, I've started a couple, but it's not going to smoothly, lol.

Unfortunately, it looks as though it was ignored last night, blankets were still in place this morning frown

Kris, I'm shooting you a pm.

So now the blankets are tucked inside, I'm curious to see if they'll explore them tonight.

I finished the box portion for the playground. I'm trying to make everything versatile that can be connected by most likely C-links or stand/hang alone. I didn't get a photo of the "porch" that can be used to access between either a cabana or the bridge depending on the configuration I decide to go with. Nothing will be permanent so I can switch up the configurations.

I originally planned the larger opening for the top access and a bit smaller one for a side access, but as I washed it and set it to dry, I placed it sideways and realized I could use that way as well to farther change things up.

I'm hoping it will be dry enough, early enough tomorrow to use try seeing how to use it in the cage with the other pieces, but also may wait and use it for tent time play first. That way they can get acquainted with it and then I can change things up a little later in the week for them inside the cage. Yeah, I think I'm going with that.

I ended up just adding the box into the cage and incorporated it into the others. I'll find out if they like it tonight I guess.

I have it set up as more of a nest rather than play.

So, finally I caught Ollie just in time jumping from the lower feeding hammock to the new box. He did go in, but by the time I got my phone to take a photo he'd climbed out. But this at least intrigued Skadoosh, so she went to check it out. She looked inside, but then settled for sitting on top of it, well it's a start.

In between I took some bonus shots of Lulu drinking her CL Plus from the silo. Then she proceeded all the way to the back of the cage, via the cage walls, completely ignoring the new set up.

I saw that some of the fleece was hanging out of the front of the box this morning. After play time, I gave the bugaboos some pine nuts after returning to the cage. After all went to the pouch, but Lulu came back out, I let her hang with me a short while and gave her another pine nut, then returned her. I pushed the fleece back into the box and Lulu comes running, up the bridge and down through the tunnel, just stayed there looking into the box, I guess she either thought I left a pine nut in there or didn't want me messing with their box, but there was no crabbing.

A fun idea for the "porch", maybe make it in a drawbridge style. grin What do you think?

Thanks Kris. If you go up to the post above with photos of the gliders, you can see the "porch" which is really more like a "stoop" lol. It's extending from the cabana being used more like a tunnel going downward towards the box. Look for a very small section that is c-linked between the two, it's used more for an extension from one part to another as seen here. I guess it could be a draw bridge, maybe I'll make one a little bigger down the road, it may come in handy.

Oh I see it, it's like a little ramp. I meant a little porch kind of thing on the box part. LOL. grin

That's so funny, we were both so clearly not on the same page. I now understand what you meant by "draw bridge style" as a way to support the porch cool That is a cool idea. I made the so called porch, thinking I would have something connecting to entrance on the side, but ended up with it connecting it to the top, so it really doesn't look like a porch, a better name would be extension ramp I guess.
