Summer is coming!

Summer is coming! - 03/20/17 10:20 PM

Summer has come early to Tucson this year. This will be my first summer with the boys and I'm worried about them overheating. For those of you that don't know Tucson, today's high is 93° and the summer gets up to 125°.

The boys are kept inside but the house stays pretty warm. At what temps do I need to worry? The room they stay in probably gets up to 90° at the hottest. I know with birds it was always bad to leave a fan on. But what good would a fan do if they stay in the sleeping sack all day? And is the fleece lined sack going to be too hot? Cause all they have is fleece lined things. I didn't think about heat issues when I bought everything.

What do I need to be concerned about and what am I over thinking?

The room my parrots and gliders are in gets up to 80 in winter and higher in the summer when the sun hits that side.

I do have a fan in the room as air movement will help cool them down.

You can also use fleece with cotton on the outside for sleeping pouches instead of fleece on fleece.

I don't change what sleeping pouches I use I just keep the fan running and they have been doing fine.
