Stuffed animal?

Stuffed animal? - 05/02/06 06:27 PM

Hey everyone! Being new, and waiting until tomorrow when my little ones arrive, I am trying to figure out different toys to put in the cage. I am wondering if these little stuff animal toys would be ok. They are very soft with no hard eyes. Wat do you think?

I would be a little nervouse since you don't know if they will be chewers or not. They coul dpossibly chew a hole through it and get the batting/stuffing out. There have been a few different stories on here of gliders getting the batting stuck in their throats and suffocating. Also if they pee on it it would be pretty stink...
My favorites are barrels of monkey's, baby links, peeka blocks, and of course my stealth wheel!

Yea stuffed toys scare me… as an alternative you can use pieces of fleece cut into small shapes as little blankets… mine love their blankies…lol…

If its supervised I am sure it might be okay but yeah I wouldn't leave it in its cage unless you know it won't chew on it.

My suggies love the chains I make from the monkeys in a barrel but they also love straws. I cut them in half and put them in a bowl on the bottom of the cage and they go nuts playing in them.

wow, ALL 7 of ours have big and little stuffed animals they play with and sleep with. NONE of them has ever chewed them, as far as getting peed on, they don't pee on them inside their pouches. I have only washed them once in over a year. They will pee on them if they are outside of the pouch when they are on the roof of the cages. I just wash those.

I only have one stuffed animal for my babies...its a HUGE Donkey from Shrek 2...LOL! And they LOVE it! They have never chewed on it, but then again, I ONLY let them play with it during tent time.

I haven't put stuffed animals in their cages but, during playtime in their "glider room," they play with them or rather they knock them off of shelves - I finally found a use for all of those beanie babies.

Oh yea, I have lots of stuffed animals for out of the cage play time, I can't see a thing that that would hurt, I just don't trust them in the cage. They do the most off the wall things sometimes for no reason, thy'll have something for the longest time and then one night destroy it. So I always think about if they did decide to rip it apart if it could hurt them.

I have stuffed baby toys in all of my cages! Eek! Should I remove them? I've always used them with no problems with chewing. They like the ones that make rattle sounds when they jump on them. I've always watched closely for loose threads just like with their pouches.

One suggestion is to carefully open one of the seams of the toy and remove the stuffing and restuff with little bits of fleece. Then with nice tight locked stitches, reclose the seam. Gliders love having little snuggle toys. Can't imagine sleeping with plastic monkeys can be all that comfy. (although mine will do it)
