Heat rock - 06/29/06 06:51 AM
I have a heat rock in their cage and i'm curios, I have a torn t-shirt over it and they like to cuddle up on or around it, can it burn or hurt them if the shirt is too thin?

Sugar gliders are good at keeping warm in a pouch or something with good bedding material. In Australia the temperatures often drop below freezing and the sugar gliders generate enough heat to keep warm. Heat rocks are not a good idea as they can over heat your glider and are just not necessary.

I also would recommend removing the heat rock, these as well has heat lamps are just not required for your glider… and can actually be detrimental to their health…

I'd guess if it was burning their skin they would move...

gliders are bad about chewing and if they bit the electric cord it could shock them.
