Can Gliders Sweat?

Can Gliders Sweat? - 07/10/07 08:19 PM

Not long ago there was a post about gliders and if they can sweat, I posted I believe they can not as I thought I had read that somewhere.

Talking with Dr.Tristan today I asked him if gliders could or could not sweat.

He stated that although gliders can indeed sweat (they sweat from the pads of their feet) they can not sweat or cool themselves down like dogs, cats of such can and therefore can suffer from heatstroke or fast dehydration and die if exposed to high temps for any length of time.

Thank you Peggy - I had asked that awhile back, but never got a clear answer.

At this time of year it is important to remember that cars heat up FAST. Please, do not leave an animal - glider, cat, dog, person - in a car for any length of time. Even with the windows cracked. If you can't take them inside with you, leave them at home!
