I would get to a emergency vet asap it sounds like a possible bacterial issue but the vet should know. I would get her on a antibiotic right away when they are lethargic they go down fast if not given a medication

Your glider needs to be seen by a vet. Lethargy is very serious and she needs to be checked out.
Have the vet check for parasites and a Urinary Tract Infection.
Yes, raspberries and watermelon can make their poop look red.
Please keep us posted on how your gliders is doing.

Mandy, Hi there. I have a few questions, I am in hopes you can answer them for me.
I see you have Benny and Bubbles. I am going to assume they are housed together. Please correct me if I am wrong.
What type of housing do you have them in and what type of litter do you have in their drop pan?
What diet plan do you currently have them both on?
Where in the home is their cage kept? Are there any vents located near their cages where they can feel the air flow?
I would recommend getting her in for a wellness check up and having not only a fecal float/smear done but also a blood panel done if able.
It sounds as though the arching of the back and the labored breathing may be going hand in hand.
It sounds like she is approximately 6 years old, with her age and the symptoms you have described, I would worry about pneumonia.
We are not vets, we cannot tell you what is wrong with your glider or how to treat it. Please take your baby into the vet as soon as you can.

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/28/15 03:31 PM
They can check for a UTI and parasites. They can also give her fluids and give her antibiotics if she needs them.
There is a list of veterinarians that will consult with other vets but they may not be available today.
You can find that list by clicking on the word vet.

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/28/15 07:32 PM
Yes, your picture did work.
She definitely does not feel well, and if you have a regular vet or one who sees gliders, I would take her back tomorrow for another check.
As we know, gliders sometimes hide their illness and she may have done just that, but whatever is going on, she is indeed not well.
Hope the treatment today will help her.

Val has been a great help all day with text messages as always. And thanks to everyone else on here as well. I just fed her some apple sauce with some emergency food from vet. she ate a bit now runnin around on my back under my shirt will take her back to emergency vet in am since i don't have a regular vet i trust in Tampa/Palm Harbor i am actually in. Unless someone here as good experience i would be open to it i have always taken them to Blue Pearl but they are so expensive it cost me $ 400 just for todays visit and for tomorrow the xrays and all they quoted me another $ 900

a few other things i just now thought of that i never even thought of before the last few weeks she has been up early nights a lot like sometimes even during day time i found her up in the cage eating!
also her fur on her belly has been looking yellow!
i cant relax now i am so nervous that something is seriously wrong with her. the weight loss from 104 grams to now 68 grams concerns me too a lot. i didn't even realize she lost weight until he told me since she was always on the smaller size

she is in a big cage with Bubbles a neutered male
i feed them the Blended Diet
they get in addition to that mealies once or twice a week
and every night corn and watermelon or other berries that's all they eat i tried other veggies they wont touch them
the litter pan has newspapers in them
their cage is in my converted garage that is heated and cooled and no the vents does not blow air on their cage i have them closed up but it gets 75 in there at night but nothing has changed temperature with since the pst 5 yrs.
nothing has changed period with anything / routine

That much weight loss would be a huge concern to me as well.
You say she is up during the day eating. What is she eating?

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/28/15 11:31 PM
During the day she is up sometimes eating left overs if I forgot to take them out in am and sometimes when I see she is up I put watermelon in there

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/29/15 12:01 AM
You may want to consider changing her diet. I would get some Happy Glider Breeder formula pellets to keep in the cage during the day.
Make sure you are putting her food in early enough in the evening and take out the left overs in the morning. By morning those fruits and veggies are starting to grow bacteria that can be harmful to her.

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/29/15 05:34 AM
I would be doing a fecal float with gram stain alo a urine and fecal culture and sensitivity and get her on antibiotics it looks to me like a bacterial issue but those tests take a few days but they will tell you the correct med and what bacteria he has. but in the meantime he needs a good broadspectrum antibiotic why xrays unless he is hurt or suspects fluid in the lungs I would make sure the vet is glider knowledgeable

Fecal, Urine all clear!
She has PNEUMONIA
I am so sad she lost so much weight..... how bad is this in a glider?????? I haven't stopped crying

Re: What is wrong with my Bubbles???? - 06/30/15 05:27 AM
my first glider had that and pulled through she was real bad but was given antibiotics every 12 hours but some gliders spit out the meds you must be sure she is swallowing them if you are not experienced with given the meds like I was at the time I would go to the vet and have them do the first dose in the morning when they open and the next before they close if its 2 hrs sooner than if u were to give it its fine
