Update on mine- I haven't seen it in person, but I found Athena sleeping with a milk ring clutched in her curled up tail. I think it's the only thing I've offered that's small and light enough for her to get all the way to the pouch. I'll have to get more of them! Sorry if someone said this already, but is there a place you can order a whole bunch of them at a time?

Well, my original pair still haven't brought anything to their nest, but they sure do enjoy knocking the monkey and milk ring chain off their vine! My new boy, however, took a monkey and a milk ring to bed with him this morning!! Woohoo! Hopefully I can intro him to my pair after quarantine and he can teach the others.

Wow, everything make SO MUCH MORE SENSE now after reading this thread. Ringo curls her tail a lot and I've seen her re-locate entire hanging toys OVER other toys and UNDER others! She also takes monkeys to bed with her (but not the barrel of bunnies- the hooks are smaller). I think she'd REALLY enjoy some milk rings, especially considering she's all alone now. Should keep her busy since she tends to actually ignore the toys other than re-locating them from time to time. My roommates are big milk drinkers, so I'll just nab a few of the rings. Thanks for the informative thread everyone! :D

Good luck Cat!
I thought I'd update since this got bumped. As of last weekend, I must have a tail carrier in my pair. I haven't seen anything happen, but their pouch went from empty to FULL of bracelets and milk rings (about 25 bracelets and all the milk rings I put in their cage, so like 12 or so). So I pulled them out the next day and reset them on their hooks around the cage and on the monkey chains, and sure enough, the next morning they had moved all of them back into their pouch. Woohoo! It's like the milk rings flipped a switch and they started nesting. Yay!

Woohoo! This is a fun subject for me lol~ its the most interesting and most natural behavior we get to see with them I swear! Exciting success Rachel! I had a success of a differnt sort~ but similar. When I cleaned cages yesterday my karma came out with zinger to investigate. Now he is spaztastic all on his own~ but this time *she cared* that I was taking stuff out of the cage!! They were both reaching through the bars trying to pull stuff back in lol~ and when I put the clean stuff back last night she was the first to come out and make sure I didn't forget anything! Success! She never cared about toys until now~ I've had her a year next month! Now my Zinger~ he has prized possessions! I'm excited with this little break through! Now~ who knows how Zinger gets stuff there (to the pouch) lol~ all I know is there is always stuff in the pouches and I've never seen him use his tail. Now I see potential for him to teach Karma to tune into her natural instinct of nesting!!

i thought i would update. i haven't been on in ages it feels It turns out that i have at least one tail carrier in my pair and bobby john is a tail carrier as well. They will start out with empty pouches and by the next day, they are full. Yesterday, i pulled 6 monkeys, 4 blankets, 5 bracelets, a dozen milk rings, and a handful of pom poms out of Bobby John's pouch. he also sleeps with a stuffed lobster friend since he's alone for now. I don't know where he found the space to sleep in his two-glider sized pouch with all of that crap in there. good lord! it is nice to have someone who appreciates my decorating, though. At least that's what I tell myself haha.

It is natural for most of them (I believe it is instinct for all of them, you just have to find something they want to carry). All 6 of mine tail carry...once I found something that they wanted to carry, and it isn't the same thing for every glider.
