Welcome to GC! So glad that you've got these little ones and are giving them some proper attention now You can discourage the biting by making small "tsk tsk" sounds when she does it. That will let her know that you don't like it. Or you can try to distract her and draw her attention to another place instead of your toes.

I had the same problem with them biting my toes. I bought myself the "ballerina" style shoes and only wear them in the tent. Toes are safe and glider is tricked! Win/win for everyone! My Leu "grooms" every piece of exposed skin so I am covered up, including a fishing hat on my head. Yes, I would frighten any little kid but the gliders don't seem to care what I look like as long as I have treats!

I am so glad that you posted this topic! I have three gliders and one likes my toes, the other would groom my entire body if I would let her. The problem is, she likes to bite when she grooms. I have tried the tsk tsk to no avail. I now wear a hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants with sock into the tent. At least I know they like me. LOL

I have a brood of 7 that allow me to pet them and pick them up easily, but due to the fact that some recently came into my life from more questionable situations, about 3 of my gliders will without hesitation bite me if i do something they dislike. They easily and readily take treats and enjoy climbing all over me, including under my shirt when possible, but i cant seem to stop the biting, which certainly is painful and makes me jump, every time.

Getting a tent soon, but still somewhat nervous. I like the hoodie idea. And socks are a must!

I could tsk until my head falls off and my boys don't even flinch or hesitate. They bite my toes and my heels, stinkers! They'll start off sweet with a lick or a little graze and then all of a sudden their mouth has grown four times its size and half my toe is in it. Brats. And then when I jump a little they give me this annoyed look like 'What is your problem'.

I had a girl that nipped toes in tent time...she did it all 11 years of her life. Barefoot, through socks, she would even go looking for them if I tried tucking them under my knees. She never drew blood, she wasn't malicious about it, at all - she just really liked my toes. I finally started either wrapping my feet up in a blanket or wearing soft shoes in the tent. The 'tsk' sound worked well for her if she nipped at fingers (usually because they smelled like food), or was aggressively grooming hair or something, but not for toes.

If we never loved, then maybe we would never feel pain. Love anyway. It's worth it.

I am suprised to see that I'm not the only one with this problem lol! One of my whiteface girls (Tandori) is always biting my toes during tent time. I don't like to wear shoes into my tent because I'm afraid of germs so I often cover my feet with a hoodie and it seems to keep her away. Giving treats also can distract them, like pine nuts. On cooler days I've worn slippers for tent time and that has also successfully kept her away from my feet. Now if I could only stop her from biting my back! lol!
