That is helpful! Any other input is great! I am trying to find a place to neuter the remaining intact boys. I LOVE the vet that did Scooter and Toby, but they are a bit out of my current price range, and the boys need to be done! I want good and bad experiences! it is a big factor in who i will take my babies to. Thanks Becki!

I have one lone female glider and I have been searching for her a partner but have been successful and I dont have the 175 that everyone wants for one glider. So if I cant find her a friend I would rather rehome her to someone with another glider

I'm looking for a 24-hour emergency vet near the Middletown, Maryland (or, a better known place nearby, Frederick) area. I need to have one in order to buy two girlie sugar gliders from a breeder.

Hi from Mary in Sharpsburg MD. I have had 2 sugies for 4 years and they are such a delight. Hi KelsiCubbles-There are 2 vets listing in the GliderCentral vet section for Fred. MD. I am calling them today to see if they will neuter my boy. They have web sites with their emergency info listed. It looks like they might be a good bet for you.

I'm in Timonium. How is Hunt Valley pricwe wise for gliders? They were my vet for my cat (who is currently living with my dad in Florida) and was going to take my little nightcrawler there possibly to be neutered.

Hi everyone! We're in Point of Rocks,in Frederick county. We just got our first glider this past Sunday. While on the topic of vets: we take all our exotics to SEAVS in Vienna, VA ( www.seavs.com). It's a bit of a hike, but well worth it. cheers, Suzanne

My name is Nina and I'm from Columbia, MD. I have recently (last few months) been introduced to Sugar Gliders. While still in the VERY early stages of my research the more I learn the more I am interested in these little guys. Here in lies my problem; I'm struggling to find local information sources whether it be rescue, breeder, or club etc. I have enjoyed GC and will continue frequenting this site but would love some local hands on learning experience. Do you know of any? My husband, Trevor, and I and are up for driving to VA or DC as necessary.

Yes I agree. I have the space, I am in baltimore, I was trying to figure out if others were interested. I figured a group of us could get together, everybody bring a dish or something.
And it would be fun to communicate with other Glider friends.
Maybe even make up some glider things to trade, between us. I know I really love making things for Tuck now. lol
If any body is interested, either post here, email me at ani15174eva@hotmial.com or PM and we can set something up.
Even if its a few poeple it would be fun but the more people the better!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say hello. I've been a glider momma for about 15 years now. I was lucky enough to have two gliders live 14 years long. I only have one pair right now and they are spoiled rotten. If anyone ever has a get together please let me know. I wish I could have one here at my place but it's just a townhouse might be a little too small. Anywho.. happy gliding!

Kentlands here (Gaithersburg/North Potomac area) just north of DC up 270. Does anyone in the DC area glider-sit? I am wiling to pay. I just found out this afternoon that we will be going on vacation July 22 with a CAT, so my boys cant come! Now I am in a mad rush to find a sitter. Yes I do have 2 months, but I panic easy and I will have to visit this house/person a few times before I consider leaving my boys with them. I could leave them in the care of friends, but I would prefer an owner who has experience since they have such strange feeding and play needs. My ideal scenario would be to "trade-off" sitting. I will watch yours and then you watch mine. I am willing to have yours in my home as I have an animal free room (my husband's office) where they could stay if you are worried about contamination with my suggies. My boys are used to traveling, so I am not concerned about leaving them in your home (although you could always watch them in my house if you prefer). My boys have stayed in 4 states so far! I am not on here very often, so if you are interested in setting something up, please pm me. Thanks!

Please use extreme care in taking you gliders to anyone's house while your away, unless they are VERY use to it. Remember you are putting them in a very strange place AND taking their owner/family away from them at the same time. If they are real bonded, they can easily die from the stress! Just the stress can so easy stop them from eating. It will be much safer to have a "well known" friend that they are use to, come into your house. This was exactly how we lost our very first suggie. She starved herself to death over missing my grandson, while at his best friends house. The gliders were Very comfortable with their sitter, and had been for several years, just not at HIS house. Our other gliders there were ok, but they were not as bonded as Bindi was. Please use caution, this was an awful thing to have to go through. I'd hate for others to have to go through that!

Have you considered getting a cage shipped to you? A lot of people get theirs on eBay for good prices, and it usually includes free shipping.
sugar-gliders.com also sells good cages and shipping is only $6.

Hey everyone!! I took my guys to the vet 2 or so weeks ago, and I wasnt really impressed. I went to the Telegraph Road Animal Hospital. Any other good vets around the area, I am willing to drive a ways (not too too long), to go to a knowledgeable, and "good" vet. Any favorites in the greater baltimore/annapolis area???

Hi, everyone. I am here in Clinton Maryland which is near Andrews Air Force Base. I have 3 breeding pair and a colony of 3 girls. Destiny (mosaic) & Diesel (WFB) Willow (WFB) & Cupid (gray) Cora (gray) & Gizmo (gray) Pixie (mosaic) Lyla & Sissy (gray) They all have my heart in their little hands and they have changed our world sooo much!

I really loved AZ from the first visit I made there back in 2008. If you like the desert, you'll love it. Strangely (to me, lol) not everyone loves the desert.
The Summer is HOT, gets very hot, and a bit more humid then most would think, mostly starting in July-mid September. Although that was the first Summer (and only) I was there, to know for sure how regular that is. I asked several Arizonians about the humidity, after always hearing "it's a dry heat" all the time. Their answer, simply "well it's monsoon season". So there you have it, not "dry heat" during monsoon season, lol. Despite the higher degrees and the more humidity than I expected, I can honestly say I wasn't any more uncomfortable than I am in the Summer months here in MD.
Winter, well I was there early February of 2014-November 2014, by Valentine's day, we were having a cookout, that's right, hanging outside eating a delicious steak, cooked on the grill. Although nights and early morning hours were a little chilly. In November, late nights and early mornings were quite cold, but warmed up pretty well throughout the day. I missed out on the December-January weather, but my wasbeen was still living there til March and he said it got a little cold those couple months. Only higher elevations get snow more commonly, but I've heard there have been some occasions the valley sees a little.
AZ is versatile too. Most don't realize that. They have beautiful parks, mountains and I love their plant life. They have lakes, several in fact, which surprised me when I found out about Lake Havasu City, which btw is home of the "London Bridge" which became my desired destination (before I learned it was party city, of course, lol). I got there late September/early October the year of 2008, it was impressive. My heart has been in AZ ever since.

Lol, yeah, MD is pretty humid in the Summer, but we've had worse than this past Summer here. What I hate also is the mosquitoes! They are bad for several months, all day long! In AZ, they have about 2 months of mosquitoes, and mostly bothersome in early am and evenings.
But MD does have a lot of beauty around, and I like some areas out here, especially in the Fall, it's breathtaking some places. If I had my way, I'd live in MD through Fall-Christmas (so I can see my family for the holidays), then go to AZ for the rest of the year, lol. Of course, then I'd miss most of football season out there, so maybe I'd re-think that.

I lived in Pasadena before I moved to AZ. I got my old job back since I moved back to MD so work in the Dena, I just don't live there anymore. I really like that area though. Oh, and welcome to GC!
