Well, it'll be visibly overweight. If he has rolls or he waddles when he walks, that's usually a pretty good indication. However, it's difficult for a 10 week OOP joey to be overweight unless he's been fed a poor diet. If you post a picture, we can help you out. Just remember that some gliders are bigger than others.

I learned this at the SGGA ( ) Feel the patagium, up near/under their arm pit, and if you feel fat deposits there (not the skin on skin feel that you would normally feel) then they are carrying excess body fat. I hope I explained that correctly.

If we never loved, then maybe we would never feel pain. Love anyway. It's worth it.

I think it would be pretty tough to be overweight already at only 10 weeks (some are bigger than others, so I am thinking that is what you mean?)
Yes, when I got Roo, it felt like her patagium was filled with jelly. It was pretty nasty, actually, to know someone let her get that way! She is down from well over 200 grams to under 140 and although she needs a 'body tuck' for all the loose skin, she looks great and her patagium is more normal now (although still a little thicker then my other gliders).

It was pretty nasty, actually, to know someone let her get that way! I love you to pieces girl but gotta mention this. Some gliders are huge due to health issues not related to diet. There are thyroid issues, diabetes, etc. I wanted to mention this because we have a couple that fall under this category. I didn't "allow" them to get this way. Some gliders are pretty big just because, like people.

No, this was diet. She lived on parrot seed only for almost three years! And in a tiny hamster cage with no toys, not even a wheel! (I was just referring to her.) I have some 'fluffy' ones myself...lol But she was not fluffy, she was obese and there is a difference.

Poor glider I can't for the life of me understand anyone feeding parrot seed to a glider! They are sap suckers! Hamster cage? UGH!!

Yes, and then the person they sold them to (who I got her from) was told to feed her the same way (and never bothered to check online to see if that was a good diet for her.) She was so weak from lack of protein in her diet, it was awful. She also was never handled, and I was amazed how sweet she was, all things considered!

The GOOD news, Elijah, is that your baby is only 10 weeks old...she can be put on an "activity schedule" that'll be fun AND keep her "buff" if you will.
You'll need a regular wheel (you pick whichever one, doesn't matter), some fleece strips about 1" wide (however long you want to make them is your choice), and a feather "teaser" (peacock feathers are GREAT for this).
Braid the fleece strips, hang them up & down (on a doorframe, shower or curtain rod, wherever) and teach little girl how to CLIMB up & down them in "hand over hand" fashion. The first few times, you may need to put a treat in front of her to INSPIRE her to move...be sure to REWARD her when she does what you want after a COUPLE TIMES.
Next, put her in her wheel & slowly start turning it...she'll start walking, then hopefully running! Encourage her with an excited voice "Go baby, go!" Pretty soon she'll start using the wheel all by herself!
Get her acquainted with the feather teaser...after she's overcome her "fear", she'll start POUNCING on it like a kitten!
Last "exercise" tip: Find a doorway with the trim on it; let her get a firm grip with 2 feet, then step back a couple steps. Hold out your hands & wiggle your fingers, again encouraging her to "come here, baby!" Eventually she'll either GLIDE TO YOU or crawl down the door trim (either one is exercise...but gliding is BETTER!)
The challenge for us humans is that she needs to be exercised EVERY NIGHT...despite whatever you had to do before playtime, she NEEDS it nightly!
Have fun, be patient, and be PERSISTENT. She'll catch on!
