It seems that (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets keeping the joeys they are selling in a hotel room and not on the actual fair grounds is proof they know what they are doing is wrong! And Ill bet my last dollar they keep their hotel room a closly guarded secret! And the hotels do NOT know they are keeping hundreds of sick animals in their room..esp with Giardia, which is contagious...even to people!! Yeah, I'm sure they are all washing their hands in that hotel room before touching anything!! Makes me ill to think about it.

I'm sorry but I am the kind of person who would NOT buy an animal sight unseen. I want to see the animal, pet the animal, look it over, etc before shelling out hundreds of dollars for it.

Maybe this is the time to go uncover and become a spy! I would love to see what they have to say..my husband deals with Giardia all the time with dogs. He also has to inspect kennels for common diseases before the breeder can sell to a broker.
The head guy at the Iowa Fair ( I assume he was the head guy, because he did all the talking), was sort of rude when I asked him questions about his Gliders. I don't think he was prepared for someone with some intelligence to ask questions..he sort of pushed me aside and started talking to some other people. Does anyone know which motel they are selling the sick gliders from?
I know they are based out of Florida, and has anyone called the company to report that the gliders they are selling in Des Moines, are sick? Let me know if I can help since I am so close..

They state that there is not one reported case of Giardia passed from a glider to a human, and therefore it is not possible.

I saw my glider before I bought her, but I had no idea what I was doing, so I only questioned the conditions in the back of my mind, not out loud. They had LOTS of gliders there and my boyfriend asked how many gliders they sell per showing, and they said they sell out EVERY TIME. frown

I have never heard of a case of Giardia being passed on to humans either..but it sure is popular among pets..I bet a lot of people bought Sugar Gliders from the fair because they looked so adorable. Unfortunately one would assume that they didn't research on how to take care of them, which can really be overwhelming.
So they sell out at every fair? I can see how that could happen. I wonder how many they are selling out of that motel room..I didn't see that many at our fair, maybe four adult gliders and maybe 29 Joey's, but some of them didn't even have any hair on them...Thousands of people were handling these little fellows daily I am sure..I hope they weren't selling those little guys before it was time..
Is your suggie healthy and how is he doing? I love the bonding process, it is fun to me to watch how much progress is made each day..we are doing tent time now..and that is a bit trying but fun too..lol..

I took my baby to the vet and she checked out. However my vet suspects that she is actually younger that I was told and that her diet needed to be changed immediately from the (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets diet to something else (I was already on top of that one, as I had given her hpw the night before).
bonding is...okay haha. If anything it is teaching me patience smile

I wonder if we all petitioned the USDA about the conditions that "they" say are ok, if we could get them to change at least the exceptable cage requirements. Maybe we can get some gliders vets in on the process, some one to write letters and stuff. I don't know, I'm just throwing stuff out there. I do know that I dispise hearing about these lots of bad words people. I just don't understand how someone could not care enough to sell these babies the way they are.

This is just a suggestion, but could PETA help out with this situation?

As stated many times previously, there is work underway to collectively, as ONE, get them shut down. They've already been turned away from some states. We can't do it a little here, and a little bit there, it has to be done with all of us coming together as one. Go to SESG (Linda, can you help out with the link?) and read more about the mill breeder Project.

Anyone who has purchased a glider or had PERSONAL experience with them needs to visit SESG and post your story.

Please give me the link. I did see these guys at the Iowa State Fair a few weeks ago and it was terrible. I will do whatever has to be done..

If PETA gets involved, most likely all of the gliders would be put down.
