Of the 21,629 food records contained in the ESHA foods database, most of them - including those of the World's Healthiest Foods - lacked information for specific nutrients. The designation "--" was chosen to represent those nutrients for which there was no measurement included in the ESHA foods database.

I am awaiting a call from my vet & Peggy I hope you will run this by Tim as well. We may be able to get to the bottom of your question BLG. I am wondering how the body regulates Ca:P if at all on it's own, as we see temp regulation, sugar etc in almost every living animal. Well I happen to run across some info stating that some animals are only able to process and absorb approx 35% P from plant material but can process and absorb about 65% of the Ca in it. This info is all pertaining to larger animals so I have put a call in to Dr. Chucle to see what her understanding of this is for small animals like the gliders. I am looking into this further with the assistance of my vet. If this is so we have always based our diet on the whole numbers & maybe that is not the way.

ok- THIS IS WHY I WANT MORE RESEARCH and why I want to eventually DO research.. BUT... meanwhile I can answer SOME of these questions:
as a dietetics student (Human).. I have learned that everything we eat impacts the digestion and absorption of other things we eat. a few SIMPLE examples:
vit c INCREASES IRON absorption IRON decreases CALCIUM absorption PH negatively impacts calcium absorption
those are just 3 off the top of my head from HUMAN nutrition.
Now. KNOWING THAT EVERY NUTRIENT IMPACTS OTHERS.. and as we discussed today in class - all the enzymes that help HUMANS absorb other nutrients are proteins that require specific amino acids, an imbalance of protein could affect things too.
The big one is NO ONE REALLY KNOWS HOW GLIDERS GUTS WORK! DR Dierenfeld is doing some research, but even what she's doing is largely based on guesswork and on limited data. Given what we know about human digestion we are STILL learning on a daily basis and studies are still being conducted that sometimes contradict accepted "facts". It will be years and years before the glider world is to that point, BUT the more we do to advance it the better.
