Unless he's sick, you won't have to worry about him falling. I've had 4 week OOP joeys use a stealth wheel! He should be just fine in this cage. Make sure he's in a warm area with no drafts. If you're worried, check on him several times at night to begin with, to make sure he's maintaining his body temp. He might be scared to be in a cage instead of an incubator and may cry or bark for you, to reassure him, everything is ok. He'll adapt pretty quickly tho.

When I moved Smidgin and Kitty into their first cage I started them out in a small emergency cage(24" wide x 18" tall x 18" deep) and put their incubator inside on it's side so they could still get into it if they wanted to. Odds are, I was a WAY overly-concerned mommy when I did all that, lol, but when you handraise a joey you tend to be overly-paranoid and concerned about EVERYTHING with him/her. Good luck with your little guy! I'm sure he'll do fine.

LOL! nothing wrong with being over-protective! I've had joeys jump and climb all around cages that were 3x2x2, with no problems, other than my heart racing and holding my breath!

Hubby gave you good advice! I think you'll find that he will be just fine. Take his pouch and blankies from the incubator and put them into his new cage so it smells familiar. Give him a couple of toys to play with to keep him occupied.

if your worried about him falling, just hang a few extra hammocks and things around so he always only has a SHORT distance... then when you see he can be a big boy, take em out so he has some jumping room, like on night two or so... just a thought...
