My husband has offered to build me a room in the basement for my gliders & sewing stuff.
It will be walled in, 1/2 of one wall will probably be made out of cage wire with a curtain over it so I will have some ventilation & air flow while still having the ability to let the gliders out into the room sometimes...

What I'm wondering is this, there will be no window. Without natural light, will my gliders' sleep schedule get messed up? Also, I will have to have a heater with a thermostat down there, it is generally cooler downstairs than up... any reccomendations? Is this a good idea or bad?

My bedroom is in the basement, and my gliders are in my room. It gets kinda cold sometimes, but I always make sure they have a pouch that will keep them warm in their cage. The window in my bedroom is pretty small and is up towards the ceiling. On days that it's real cloudy outside (and even sometimes when it's not) my room gets kinda dark. I always make sure I leave a light or two on during the day.

you'll defently want to have a light on during the day.

if you get a timer for your light that would be good because then you won't have to worry about remembering to turn it on or off.

and like BethySue said make sure to have nice warm pouches.
if you find it gets REALLY cold, maybe think about getting a space heater? (i believe you could probably even get them at wal-mart.. they sell pretty much anything lol)

if you move your critters to the basement just keep a close eye on them for the first few days for sure. if they're showing any signs of stress try to narrow down the reasons for it (lighting, temperature and so on)

i think as long as you have control over the environment (as it sounds you're planning on doing) it should be fine and it sounds like you have a wonderful husband to do all that for your little ones!

best wishes and take care
