I know that many of us have our gliders on us often. We also love to take them with us wherever we go. For those of us that have "been around the block", this is probably a no-brainer so let me put the word out to our newer glider owners. Many of us are experiencing hotter than normal weather this summer with some areas in the 90-100+ range (like here in DC right now). This is just a reminder, in this weather, to leave your babies at home. As much as you want to bond with them and take them to the grocery store, as much as you want to have them on you or show them off at work, it's just not safe. Maybe you're only going from your house to your office or to the store. This is all well and good. But what happens if your car breaks down on the way and you have to spend hours on the highway, waiting for a tow or a repair? What if you're in an accident and it renders your car (or, god forbid, you) immobile. Being that this weather is only temporary, it's not the end of the world that they have to stay in their cage for a few days. If you're uncomfortable, chances are, so are your gliders. So please...err on the side of caution and just leave them at home, in the comfort of your home, to ensure everyone stays happy and healthy.

Nicely said! I made the mistake of taking a couple gliders to town with me a couple days ago. They were all snug in my bra on the ride in, then as soon as I got out and started moving around, that was it! I was burning alive and felt SO bad for the two in my bra. Luckily, I remembered to bring a bonding pouch with a nice size window.

what is the ideal temperature that the room should be that their cage is in? Ideally, between 75-85 degrees, but this doesn't *have* to be the case. I know there are some members here that don't have AC and their houses get much hotter. They do, however, find other ways to keep the gliders cool (ice blocks, fans, etc). Same with the rooms being a bit cooler...you can put extra blankies in so they can huddle together and keep warm.
