There is no good way to start this so I will just dive right in. Three nights ago three of my adult gliders passed away. The window in their room was left open, we don't know for sure how long. I had checked on them a couple hours before everything occurred and everyone was fine, the room didn't feel cold nor did I notice an open window. I came back about two hours later to feed everybody, the room was cold. One glider was dead, two were near dead and could not be saved. I tried for twenty hours to save the two premature joeys feeding every 20 minutes from one of the deceased gliders, they were around three weeks in pouch- about the length of a quarter.

I can not stress how important it is to make sure the windows are closed and the room is at the right temperature, they can turn for the worse so quickly. I was lucky that I did not lose all of my gliders, four survived. I'd like to specially mention Tracy for her support during this difficult time.

I live in Seattle, the outside temperature that night was 35-40 F degrees.

My heart aches over your loss. cry cry It's SO IMPORTANT to make "one more check" over everything before you call it a night...noses counted, doors, windows, and dishes all checked: everything needs to be looked over again just because.

Thank you for this sad but needed reminder. Your babies did not die in vain. Because of your experience, I, and many, many others, will be extra careful about checking windows and temperatures. Thank you for sharing, to help others, during this very tragic time. I am so sorry for the loss of your babies.

I'm so sorry to hear about your babies and as Connie said thank you so much for posting your story and reminding everyone to do double check.

Thanks to your reminder I connected my husband and outlined for him what to do if the weather we are currently having does indeed go to a Blizzard and I'm not able to get home tonight. Before he leaves (he works Nights our son is spending the night at a friend's) he will move the gliders, gerbils, and gp into the basement with our gas fireplace going just in case during the night if we lose power they will not get cold.

Thank you again and may the memories of your babies always stay strong in your heart.

But like everyone else was saying, thank you SO much for posting this because it does make you want to double check all of the little things going on around their cage.
