I just welcomed three female adult sugar gliders into my home. I had a baby glider a few years ago and long story short rescued these three beautiful babies (not really babies). One of the gliders tongue hangs out the side of its mouth all the time. The previous owners told me its been that way for the year that they had them. She is eating great,this dosn't seem to bother her. Im just curious if anybody else has heard of such a thing. I am looking for a vet to take her to but would like to know if anybody has dealt with this problem before and what could cause this?

I've never seen that in a glider. It will be interesting to see what the vet has to say.

Can you look inside her mouth and see if she has her teeth? This usually happens when gliders are missing teeth.

Only time I've ever seen this was when a glider had an injury to the tongue. But if it's been longer than a year I think Tara's description fits better.

Tara is more than likely correct. This happens when a glider is missing teeth *much like with dogs, often seen with chihuahua's)

I have seen this in a couple of gliders over the years, each of them had their teeth removed for one reason or the other. Normally dental issues.
