My Honey is in for surgery. It's almost unbelievable how quickly they go from being their silly selves to daddy I'm really not feeling well. This morning when I went in to check on them and Honey was listless and looked really bad. I took her in and the vet felt a mass in her abdomen. An xray disclosed a large tumor.

Both of my girls are seven and a half years old.

She passed away on the table.

What do I do now with her buddy?

This hurts so bad.

I am so sorry for your loss. frown Her cage mate is over 7 years old too? Would you consider adopting another glider ? How is she doing? What are you thinking about for her?
Since sugar gliders are colony animals, it's really hard on them to be alone after being raised with another cagemate. I would recomend another cage mate. Otherwise she may pass from loneliness.
She was so cute! After having them together so long, it's hard to think clearly about what to do. My babies are young, but I know there are many veteran owners on here that can come up with some ideas.

Now that she is over the rainbow,
she will be fine and will fly free,
and always be in your memories...

Yes, her cagemate Gintae is 7 1/2 and they were together for seven years so she's not taking it well.

I need to find her a companion, but I don't want to get a youngster and be back in this same situation in a few years. I need to try and see if I can find an older rescue first.

I haven't been on Glider Central in years, it used to be a much busier forum.

you Can possible try to find a rescue pair ( younger) then hope they will accept your current glider. I dread ever having to post I lost one of my girls. (it hit me harder than I though when I lost one of my snakes earlier this winter sue to old age)

I am very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort and peace in your memories of her.

P.S. You can try Lucky Glider Rescue in Texas they may be able to help you get an older buddy for your little one.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, Glide free pretty Honey! :rbridge:

To add to Feather's suggestion, LGRS is a great place to look, but Cora also runs a rescue, she may be able to help or have suggestions.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Abdominal surgeries rarely have good outcomes. hug2 Hopefully one of those two rescues in TX will have an older glider in need of a companion.
