I need to buy a new wheel, but there are so many different options. Any suggestions or comments on why you bought the wheel you have? What about the way you wash it? My girls have had the fast track since I've had them, it has gotten very old and I think it's time for a new one. Thanks!

I have all Fast Track wheels as well. I don't know how old one of them is, but the first one I purchased I've had since around Spring of 2012. Probably about a year later I purchased a travel size one, and then my Ollie had a Fast Track wheel when I homed him in November of 2013. All my wheels are in good condition still.

Now why I chose Fast Track in the first place was because when I was researching wheels, I got recommendations for probably all the wheels. A member of a forum (here or GG) mentioned how the wheels on the Fast Tracks can be removed from the mountings. This was a huge factor as to why I got one. The feature to remove the wheel makes it easier first to install or place in the cage, especially the cage mounts, it's not as heavy to get in attached without the wheel on it. Also, it fits through the doors easier, especially if you do not have ginormous doors. In addition, I can remove the wheels to clean without messing with the mounting when I don't want to. I can also interchange the wheels. The first wheel I purchased a cage mount, the travel wheel I got a floor stand and a cage mount and considered purchasing just the floor stand to use for out of cage play sometimes. When I got Ollie, his wheel was on a floor stand. This is how I have used all the options:

1. Regular wheel and travel wheel, both on cage mounts
2. Travel wheel on floor stand in vacation cage and for out of play, I can easily remove the wheel from the cage mount inside the cage and place on floor stand.
3. Two regular sized wheels in cage, one on floor stand and one on cage mount.
4. Regular wheel on cage mount or floor stand, and travel wheel on the other, I've switched them around for a while. This is how I currently have it set up, I still take the travel size wheel out and place on the travel floor stand for out of cage play and vacation cage.

I also have no problems if I want to move the cage mount in the cage, because of ease of having the wheel removed.

How I wash the wheels?
I alternate taking the wheels out and scrubbing them in hot, soapy water and rinse well one week, and the next I just wipe them down with v/w solution with a sponge or paper towel right inside the cage.

Doesn't the ball bearing get wet and rust?

No, I don't fully immerse it. I put a little hot soapy water in a dishpan, just enough to cover some track, then take a scrubby brush (used for dishes) and scrub while turning the wheel in the water, both on the inside and outside. Then I empty the soapy water and rinse the wheel well. I use a paper towel to wipe access water from the back and the inside lid and let air dry the rest of the way. I've not had a problem with rust so far. I do this usually every other week, but sometimes I admit to skip another week and be like three weeks in between. The weeks I don't scrub, I just use a moistened sponge or just spray a paper towel with v/w solution I keep in a spray bottle for cleaning the drop tray and quick wipe downs here and there.

I can fully immerse mine. I can even leave it the cage while I power wash the cage. It's pricey though. It has a sealed bearing. I have the Velociraptor. With cage mount and nail trimmer it cost $80 with shipping.

I have 2 stealth wheels in each of my 3 cages. They are all side mounted. I clean the wheels in place with a soapy rag and the hose when I clean the cage.

I purchased the stealth wheels in 2008 & 2009 - there were not as many choices at the time. These are all still as good as new and still silent.
