Hi everyone, so about a month ago I adopted a male glider, who is such a sweetheart. I really wanted to find a buddy for the female I already had. So I did what I read you should do, I kept him quarantined in his own cage for a month with daily separated (between the bars of the cage) interactions and for the past ten days supervised interactions in neutral territory (my bathtub). All seemed to go well, they have never been aggressive towards each other in the slightest. So today I finally decided to put them together in the same cage. Which didn't seem to be a problem at all at first. However, my female glider will not leave the male glider alone. She is not being aggressive towards him or anything, but she is just constantly following him around and really sort of bugging him/mounting him. I can tell that he is starting to get a little fed up with this as he hisses a little/crabs a little whenever she touches him. I'm a little worried even though they don't seem to be fighting or getting physically aggressive. I just don't want things to escalate. Should I be worried? Or is this normal and just part of the introduction process. By the way, she hasn't been around another glider for the past 3 years until I got him. So maybe this is just some extra curiosity? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Julia

It is normal interactions, she is just establishing herself as the boss.

Riding him is a form of dominance over another glider. I have seen it in two neutered males and I have seen it in a cage of female gliders.

They are just establishing their hierarchy.
