Many of you may remember Timmy, he was my first glider. His thread is the most ever viewed, it is on the portal page. He just turned 10 yo on Sept. 1. Last night, at 8 pm as I held him, he took his final breaths. I knew it was coming. About a couple weeks ago, I noticed his belly looking bigger. He continued to eat and play as he always did. Timmy had been through so much in his life, and I made the choice at his age to not go to the vets (I am sure some may have issue with that, but please he was my glider and I had to do what was best for him. He did not do well at the vets.) Anyway Tuesday I knew his time was coming. He was still eating and such, but saw it in his eyes, that light was dimming. Yesterday morning, he still sat in my hand and ate his mealies and a piece of avocado. Last night when I went to feed him, I called his name. He always would pop up but not last night. I took him out and saw he was leaving. I finished feeding everyone and than took him out and held him. He was gone in less then 10 minutes...I believe he waited for me. He is reunited with his beloved Gidget now....my heart is broken without him. Sleep softly in the arms of the angels sweet Timmerman...chase crickets and butterflies until we meet again...I love you.
Thank you. Doesn't feel real. I knew it the other night he was leaving soon. But god bless him, he still ate, played, ect, right up until yesterday morning. It will be very hard feeding tonight. I would always go in and call him and his little head would pop up out of his pouch. I will always miss him and love him.
I am so sorry for your loss. And I also truly believe that he waited for you to come before leaving. He wanted to spend his last moments with you. Find comfort in that because he loved you! I hope that your memories fill your heart and make this time easier for you.
The added stress a vet visit may not have gone well. You did the right thing. At least he got to enjoy his last days with you and no added stress. Thank you for sharing this and giving me courage to do what is right for my babies once they are in their golden years.
I am very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort and peace in your memories of him. Glide Free Little Timmy

Thanks guys. It still does not feel real. All my gliders were very quiet, no one played last night. Feeding time was so hard, as Timmy would pop his little face up when I called his name for dinner. Been doing that for over 9 yrs, and it is not an easy thing to just stop doing. I cried as I put their dish in the cage, as I saw the pouch moving. Hurts.
Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the honor of meeting Timmy, but through the years I felt as if I had. He will always shine forever in your heart with love and joy for all the loving and caring years that you gave to him.
