Hi! We've had our glider Gumbo for 18 months now. He is a pretty social guy, and usually wakes up at 9pm and stays awake until 7am or so. Lately, he has completely changed his sleeping schedule! He won't wake up until well after 1 or 2 am, and stays awake until noon. The problem with this is that we don't get to socialize with him much this way, and he does not get much time outside of his pouch! Does anyone have any ideas in how to change his awake time back?

Thanks!

Yep, wake him up when your ready to spend time with him.

If he is a single, watch for over grooming.

Has is environment changed? Is there light in his room during the day? He needs light so he knows he's supposed to be asleep.

Sometimes seasonal changes will cause this.

Have you considered getting him a buddy?

A vet visit may be in order to make sure he is healthy. That is a major time change.

Does he have natural light were you keep the cage? If he is always in the dark he won't be able to differentiate the night from the day.

I have two cages in different room but both get afternoon light. Their sleep schedules are off by about 4 hours with one cage up just after dark, the other not until 11pm or so. Although there may be some change day to day they are pretty consistent. How is he acting otherwise?
