Okay, the glider I'm getting is coming with this cage: The Cage As you can see, it sits really close to the floor. My cat will have access to the cage. My cat is 10 years old and is not good at vertical jumping. He has a stool he uses to get up on his feeding table. He also isn’t very concerned about my current glider. He has never gone up on his hind legs to get close to the cage. He's walked by, sniffed, and continued on. So, I don't think he's going to be very insistent about getting close to the glider. BUT...I don't want him able to get that close! I was thinking of getting some of that thick presentation board from the Dollar Tree and building a wall around the cage. Does anyone have any other ideas? She's coming home today!

First - make sure the cage has 1/2 inch bar spacing. The description does not indicate the bar spacing and describes the cage as designed for ferrets and chinchillas which are larger than sugar gliders.
Your best defense against the cat would be a closed door to the room where the cage is located.
Anything solid you attach or build around the cage will make care your glider and the cage more difficult because it would block the bottom door of the cage.

To put it nicely, this cage stinks. But it will do for a temporary cage. The bar spacing is 1/2 inch, so we're good there. But the drop pan IS the bottom of the cage! There is no cage above the drop pan. It's going to be a joy to clean. Here is the wall I built. My cat has mild curiosity at best and this will keep him out. If he tries to pull it open, I will hear him. My only concern is off gassing from the foam board and duck tape that holds the corners together.
