I have a baby girl. About 20 weeks OOP. She is very tiny, about 59g. She hasn't gained any weight in about a month. I think the problem is she never stops running in the wheel, so she's burning all her calories and there is nothing left for her to grow on. She's part of a trio with 2 males a cpl months older than her. I'm afraid if I take the wheel out, they'll get fat and they'll all be bored. I give her extra treats, but I don't want to give so many she doesn't eat her staple foods, although she's a little piglet and usually eats anything I give her. Any suggestions?

Give her some Avocado instead of an empty calorie treat.

Your gliders are young, it won't hurt them to have some grams on their little bodies, they are still growing.

I give her extra mealies, too. But when the other two are at the front of the cage waiting... she's running running running. Hops off, grabs a mealie, and then hops back on again. I think she's OCD about the dang thing. Lol.

Hey there! Wow...that's an unusual behavior.
There are lots of people out here more qualified than me to answer this but...

If you take the wheel out of the cage and bring it into tent time with you and JUST the little one...does she still do obsessive running?

IF you have an extra cage and give her NO wheel, does she spend more time eating?

Just trying to determine here if she is actually fixated on the wheel or if the behavior is in response to something in her environment.

If the other two are out-competing her for food, this might be a reaction to that. That is what pops to mind offhand.

my 2 cp worth... :-)
