Hey all! Took a break from trying to fix the ship, and laid down on the couch for a while. Decided it would be a perfect time for a sleepover. Shooed off the dogs, got settled and got my hand in the bag, So much kisses, hugs and love. Gratifying. :-) Then suddenly everyone decides it's playtime, and they come streaming out of the bag, and bounding off to their respective favorite play spots.
Arrow pauses before leaping off--he looks back at me, "You got this, right?" "I got it, buddy. Go play."
You see Arrow does most of the babysitting while everyone else plays. Not sure why. It's just usually him, left in the bag, watching the little one.
Athena has learned crabbing--and she's pretty vocal. So she starts winding up as my hand goes into the bag...but settles down pretty fast.
For probably an hour she climbed around on my hand...sniffing and nibbling and licking. I would occasionally shift my hand around to pet her head or back--get her more used to being handled...
And then she did something she has never done before.
She came out of the nest. Not on mommy, or being pulled around by Daddy Tree. For the first time she came out to explore. She would tentatively poke her nose out...then dart back in... Soon, she would take a few steps out, and poke around... She probably got 18 inches from the bag, at her furthest point--but she had never willingly left the pouch before. (AFAIK) AND another big thing... Little backstory here: No one here likes peas. Don't know why. They just aren't crazy about them. Well...I just got up and started my morning routine. And *someone* has pulled out all the peas from the food dish, and left the shells in a neat little pile next to the bowl.
If I'm not mistaken, Athena is now taking solid foods--at least peas anyway.
That or everyone was hittin' the eucalyptus pretty hard last night and got the munchies for peas.
She us just about 6 weeks oop now.
This means I need to ratchet up the glider proofing again. The rest of the family are pretty set in their routine now. They have their naughty spots on the ship that they like to go hide, but I'm not worried about them getting trapped or hurt, going into someplace I can't get to them. If I can't find someone, it's pretty much:
Upper storage Port side closet Under the bathroom counter
But Athena is going to be new. She's going to find ways to get into trouble that no one has found yet.

It's great she is exploring a bit! She was probably missing her family but kinda needs to learn a few coping skills too. It has to be so cool to experience this.
Dawn Be patient, and Trust your journey.... Grace Ruby Mom Fiona, Dot, Stewie and Dad Wish I could turn back time... Miss you all...
