So, I finally introduced my gliders. One is an older windower (lost his cage mate) and the newer one is a rescue. I spent a year making sure they were ready to meet. Had the young one neutered but the vet wouldn't neuter my older one. Anyway, they finally met last week in the tent after many previous safe meetings. They got along and went into the pouch together and I transferred them into a new cage. I have been monitoring them closely for the past week.

Here's what I've noticed. Lots of clicking sounds, which I think is a good sign. But also some occasional fussing that sounds like hissing plus crabbing that comes from the pouch. It doesn't last long but gives me pause. I always check on them when I hear it. Also, my older glider already had some balding on his head from over stress/over-grooming. Now the other glider has a bit of that too. Is the older one grooming his new cage mate's head? Are they stressed out together when I think they are happy? I'm a bit confused on this one. Any thoughts? Thanks!

They have a scent gland on top of their head. When they mark each other, the fur will thin.

Yes, I wondered if that was a possibility! "Get your foot out of my face!" Lol.

Hi Anna! Congrats on your successful intro!!! I know all of you are much happier now. Give them time to get their hierarchy established, even if they seem to have some scuffles. Keep going the way you're going, checking and spending time with them, but it sounds like success, as clicking sounds have always been considered "happy" sounds as far as I've heard/read.
