Okay so I don't use fabric softener liquid or sheets for my glider's laundry. It's my regular detergent, rinse, then another extra cycle with nothing added, so three rinses after detergent. It may be overkill, but it's the way I do it.
So, this evening I put my glider's wash into the dryer after my sister removed her laundry. I saw her throw a fabric sheet in the trash when she took her load out. I went down after about 30-40 minutes to remove my fleece jacket I usually wear during out of cage play time. And there I found a fabric softener sheet! I do not know if the residue of these pose health issues, so I'm wondering if I should start over again with putting them through a double rinse without anything, a full wash cycle as usual, or just leave it be. Any advice on this is greatly appreciated, I kind of need the answer by morning though. Thanks.

It could be a spent dryer sheet that was left over from previous load.
What brand of sheet does she use?
I use cheap store brand sheets in my regular laundry. And occasionally, a spent dryer sheet gets left behind. In that case I wouldn't rewash. Some of the other name brand sheets might be a concern.
Did their laundry take on the smell of them?

Thank you!!!!!
It's either Bounce or Downey, not an off brand. The sheet was spent, and had faint scent left still. The fleece jacket had a very discreet scent, not really strong, but present, lightly. I know the main reason to not use fabric softener is for scent-over marking, I just wasn't sure about the sheets, because they coat in the dryer, not watered down. I was concerned of residue. Truth be told, I'd rather not have to rewash everything again, lol. Other than the shelf liners, most of that stuff won't go back into the cage for some time anyways.

Terry, you might air them outside. I've done that when something got misdirected Ted to dryer with regular laundry. I've also done a squirt of vinegar water if it was too strong and hung on a plastic coat hangar.

Unless it's a brand new very scented sheet, I personally wouldn't worry about it.
Sometimes I think we are overly concerned about what these little guys smell when it comes to laundry. Just think about all their noses come in contact with just in their surroundings that we are not even aware of on a daily basis.
The scented laundry products are just for us humans so we think they smell fresher and cleaner. That scent has nothing to do with how clean your items actually are We have been using the unscented products for years, both detergent and dryer sheets (Tide and Bounce). Most all your brands will have a Free version.
