I agree with Dawn, you could get them and replace the rope with fleece.

They are probably just tearing it up, I doubt they are eating any of it.

It probably would be a good idea to clean out those pieces. Could be they are just cleaning the coconut. Better to not take chances of having any of those getting wrapped around any limbs, fingers or toes
