welllll remember that Pool noodle I bought? It has served it's purpose becoming the most popular thing for local gliders to climb, chew and basically destroy.."Hey there's that thing that lets me get from here to there!...Let's eat it!" (small "Galaxy Quest ref.) So I took one section of said noodle and cut it down to cubes and made a box for the pieces. It seems to be just as entertaining to climb around in this contraption and occasionally send a cube flying through the air. I am hoping to get some more noodles at the end of the season for cheap....everyone knows that pool noodles go stale if not stored properly between seasons. Ain't nobody got time for dat. Worm farm... I consider this experiment a success but I am going to rebuild and make things a little stronger this time. There are more worms and beetles than anyone could eat right now. I'm guessing I started with 50ish worms or 100 I can't remember I probably have 300 worms and 200 beetles and 150 larvae right now. The box with the screen on the bottom has to be really strong to hold everything in and also support weight if you get lazy like me and support it wrong. I also only tended to the worms bi weekly and that was a problem. It just got to the point where instead of worms in one box, new beetles in one box and larvae and eggs in other boxes, everyone was just living together and most likely eating each other as well. I feel a little bad but they are being raised for food. It' just not as organized as I would like. And the screen just doesn't want to stay attached to the plastic boxes. The twin girls are up to 30 grams a piece right now. They look healthy and eyes are open. They have been seen on short trips out of the pouch clinging to mom but it doesn't seem like there is room for both on mom so it's usually just one. I make a point to weigh them every other day and I try to handle them a little each night for about ten minutes. It surprises me how easy the mom lets the babies go un-attended. Everyone knows that if you are anywhere near a momma's bear cub in the wild you will get violently eaten. I just thought that there would be more of a protective instinct. I guess just because different species and such. Anyway I cannot really tell the girls apart. I think one has a bigger noggin but I really can't be sure. And the markings look identical to me. I'll try and put up a photo and maybe you can tell me what you think. ok , have a good night everyone. https://photos.app.goo.gl/rPZDPJERmSSS4ZTX7 I think this is a picture of the girls sleeeping on dad. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GUuFHJNn8UVXC6hJ9This is a horribly shot video of the girls see how much they look alike? Just when you think "oh that one has a wider stripe or something, it turns out they are the same and it was just the light or the way they were turned.

Those babies with their daddy is too cute! I have a worm farm I could reset up but I tired and lazy right now! Maybe sometime because I love the idea of fresh mealworms!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/w6v64fqg8znvyot/VID_20180807_231910So here is a poorly shot video of me teasing Mama with a pretty flower. For some reason I had the camera on slooooooo mooooootioooon... No big deal but about ten seconds in or so the little ones let out the loudest crab I have heard yet!! But when you hear it in slow motion it is crazy!! And just for the record, I specifically went to trader Joe's for human food... I left with a bouquet of flowers, some kale and spinach, and a variety of fruit all for the ladies of the house. If only the other humans knew...

Karen meant that flower is safe. Some aren't.
Love the way she stuck her arms through the cage! Slow mo can catch stuff like that.

Thanks for the flower power list.
Eunice and Herky go NUTS for flowers, Wendy is just a sometimes gal, and Pricilla couldn't care less. I'm a little worried about Pricilla. Sometimes I catch her just staring out of her pouch k blankly or perched on a post just being still. I'm going to move her cage around and redecorate today. My plan is to take the sisters and introduce them to Wendy and Pricilla. I'll still have three warring factions but at least everyone will have a buddy. Also been handling the twisted sisters everyday and today I got a little nip! Actually it was only the second time I plugged my hand into the pouch without knocking so I guess I deserved it. Also tried letting Herky test the waters playing with Wendy... Even though they were separated by cage bars, they still tried to eat each other then me. Ugh.

Yes, definitely keeping Nook and crabby, uh I mean Cranny. I have been alternating taking Wendy and Pricilla into the bathroom, (the only neutral room left in the house) with the babies. Wendy seems genuinely afraid of them but not in a nasty way. When they crab (in unison of course) she freaks out a little. but she has been nose to nose and not lashed out. I'm still not 100% about Wendy. It seems that she is so bonded to me that any other glider activity is forbotten. Still she has been as close as the other side of the cage with them and not made aggressive movements. The plan is to take each baby and move one in with wendy and one in with pricilla. That way everyone has a buddy and I can feel better when I can't spend a hour each night playing with each part of the tribunal of scratch separately. I'm going to wait until they are leaving the pouch and eating on their own I guess unless someone else has "been there done that and wants to pipe up with some advice. In other news. Eunice the momma has figured out how to escape the living room, run down the hallway and under the bedroom door all for the sole purpose of eating Pricilla's face off. This hasn't happened yet obviously but I can't help but wonder why she has felt the need to make this a priority. She seems hell bent on fighting pricilla. Oh and the babies nails are super catchy on everything, should I file them or try to cut them? They obviously don't use the wheel yet. But how can I distract them if they aren't on solid food yet? (honestly I haven't cut anyone's nails yet, still too afraid of hurting them) I just swap out wheels with different types of sand paper. cheers everyone! Oh and if you get a chance ,watch "a quiet place" it was a really good movie with a few surprises.

Today the girls were out of the nest! Well at least the one was, I think it's nook because she's a bit darker. She had no problem climbing all over the place and didn't miss an opportunity to climb on mom and hitch a ride. Cranny stayed in the nest but I pulled her out for a bit. Neither would eat or drink anything but they are healthy.
I did take nook into Wendy's room and as I got closer to the cage Wendy displayed her usual "I want to paint the walls with your blood" behavior. ugh.
Currently I moved Pricilla and her cage into the hallway for the night so that I could spend some time with wendy. I know she's going to go crazy covering the scent in my room but luckily Pricilla is a creature of habit and only goes a few places.
So for these babies, do I still pouch swap and all of that or do I just go into neutral territory sleepy time introductions? any thoughts?

Neutral place for sleepy intros. Neutral pouch, low light, and fingers crossed. Watch for balling up. Little scuffles are gonna happen. The Joey must learn manners that mom and dad don't teach. Stewie has been slapped so many times by Dot that he has learned to stay out of reach. Then the next minute they are eating out of the same dish side by side. I am a very protective mom, but I had to watch and quit intervening. It made Fiona jealous of the attention Stewie was getting. I don't know why she acts that way, but she does. She tolerates both Dot and Stewie most of the time. Dot (is alpha) and Stewie play together most of the night. It sounds like they are scrapping, but when secretly observed, it's a cat and mouse game that includes hide and seek. They even take turns as to who the mouse is. Fiona has never been one to play. But she loves to watch. Dot has finally got a buddy who will play with her. Good luck...
