Just got two joeys this morning: Elric and Dobby, brothers. On the way home one of them (guessing Elric) started barking to let him out. When we got home put the pouch in the cage along with some water and some blueberries and unzipped the pouch. Elric popped out, ate a blueberry and then went back into the pouch to get some sleep. Dobby could not be bothered to wake up. In the evening they work up and I found their exercise wheel's stand was not heavy enough to hold it in place so it was running all over the cage bottom. Took it away when Dobby almost tipped it on himself. While pulling the wheel out Elric made a break for it and jumped to freedom. Thankfully the door was closed. I tried to tempt him with food to come to me but he was having none of it. Ended up having to grab him and he nipped lightly when I first got him and then calmed down and decided it would be easier to go quietly back to the cage. After that we got along better and he let me hand feed him some small treats. Dobby was more skittish. I put his treat inside a toy and let him struggle to figure out how to get it out. I was impressed at him figuring it out but then he dropped the treat through the cage bottom. Fed them their staple food but I am not sure if they "get" the water bottle yet. Gave them some water in a dish. They seemed to play fight a lot but it never got serious. I grabbed the pouch the breeder had them delivered to me in to clean it and reached in and found myself covered in crawlies. Turns out they put live mealworms in there. Not a problem but a nice surprise when I was just expecting some fruit. They ran around a lot, ate, and Elric decided to take a nap in one of the pouches. Dobby went to join him and then climbed back out. Then back in and out again. Elric got annoyed that Dobby seemed unable to decide whether he wanted in or out and started hissing. Dobby played around for a while and I put some water on my hand and he licked it up. Then he picked another pouch and went to get his nap. I had planned to get some work done but was too captivated by them to turn away. Looking forward to starting real bonding in a few days. So far they seem happy but I need to keep an eye on Elric. He is sneaky.

You certainly had an exciting first day/night at home with your little ones, didn't you.
What kind of wheel do you have in your cage? I ask to see if there is a waya to anchor it to the bottom or side of the cage so it will not move around.
So the breeder put mealies in the bottom of the pouch <---- That would be me if I stuck my hand in there and found that surprise! I can never handle those little squirmers without tweezers. They just give me the willies. How old are your joeys? Many at the age of 8-10 weeks aren't really into mealies yet, so it wouldn't be surprising they were still alive Fruit is probably more on the menu for them right now
We are glad you are here and look forward to seeing pictures of your little one.
Check out the different forums so you will know where to post your questions as you think of them.

I have come up with a way to mount the wheel. I just need to go to Home Depot or Lowes to get some parts. Thankfully they seem to be super active so I am not worried about exercise in the mean time. They did settle their differences and share a hammock this morning. I think they may have figured the water bottle too well. It was empty and not because they drank it all; somehow they got it leaking from the spigot and I know it was not doing that when I first put it in there. Still trying to figure out how. Probably something disrupting the seal. I just gave them some water in a dish for now. bonding starts tomorrow. We will see how it goes.

And I need to log in before I post in the future. They are just three months out of pouch and did not seem interested in the meal worms. They did devour the blueberries and part of an orange slice.

Welcome to GliderCENTRAL!!!!
I would also keep a small dish of water in the cage. They drink more water from a open water source.

When you said "crawlies" my mind automatically went to fleas and ticks. 😱. I hope the boys are doing great and bonding going well.
