One of my sugar gliders, Lilac, passed about two weeks ago. Her longtime cage mate, Zeke, a neutered male has been with Lilac for almost eight years. He is acting fine so far, eating well and interacting with me just like normal. However, I am concerned that he will get lonely after a while. We originally got Lilac because Zeke got lonely and started losing his hair and refusing to eat after we've had him for about six months. Ever since we got Lilac, the two have been well bonded. I am not sure what I should do. Zeke is over eight years old.

Any suggestions? Thoughts?

I live in Albany, NY area and if there are any rescue places in the area, please let me know.

Thanks!

I don't know of any rescue places near you. I suggest contacting Glider Guardians on Facebook.

I an sorry for your loss.

Has he been showing signs of depression?

If you can spend more time with him, he may be fine for awhile.

One of ours is a single and seems to be happier that way. Her eyebrows have grown back, she lost 5grams (she was a bit chunky) and is actually more active. She's 5.5 years old. She's not a people glider, but enjoys our company (on her terms) when we turn her loose for supervised playtime at least every other day. She has foraging toys, a wheel, toy box, a couple of hammocks and an open environment pouch with a lot of blankies to snuggle with.

Thanks for the suggestions. Zeke is acting fine for now. He did lose some of his fur on top of his head. I have been giving him more cuddle time and I left Lilac's blankets for him to snuggle with.
